Personally, I find that for Melee jobs this is a great option for a WS piece. Strangely enough, I'm looking at the same piece for all my DD jobs

+4 Str +15 WS Acc and +4 Agi +2% WS damage

For Rng, this is hot. Two WS mods, increase WS Acc for Sidewinder and 2% more damage. All I'm seeing is "damage, damage, damage, zomg Sidewinder is hitting more often, damage, damage.

For Sam, not too shabby. 1~2 less Str, but more WS Acc and the +2% damage combined with Overwelm puts you @ 21% damage increase.

For Mnk, not to shabby. 1~2 less Str, but more WS Acc on your Multihit WS like Asuran Fists and +2% damage (possible for +2% on each hit landed?)

I was more of looking at both items as a set, and that it would be great for my DRG

But that would just turn the head piece into an Askar -1. Making it a WS piece with Str+4, Att+ 5 and Acc +25 would be much better for Drgs considering Penta and Drakesbane. It might not have the most Str in the headslot, but it frees up other slots from needing as much Acc.

My only question now is whether this would be better for War or for Thf. Either way the gear still looks ugly to me (regalrdless of it it's an FFIII homage or not). But then again the expansion could most likely suck and I won't even have to worry about it.

yes, but this item is easier to obtain then said head gear, and with the haste, its a nice DPS item, to go along with the Dusk gear I have, and other things

in reality, it just depends on what type of DRG your going for.

It'll probably be what I go for.
However, a dire need for it there is not.
Cure potency does bring it's disadvantages regarding enmity accumulation on longer fights for whms like me that make liberal use of Cure IV.
And even though E-peen Cure V's are nice, the uses are quite limited since even with my current setup for it only monks and decently geared paladins may make full use of the potency, and only when I allow them to drop really low on HP which I usually do not.

The bodies had a few really nice augments of which you could say 'Damn, <job> really needed that!' like the pet MACC+MAB for summoners of the ACP body.

I'm missing that in this expansion, although some augments are nice it does not give the boost of which you can say that.

Without the augments, the hat is just meh. For BLM, the AF hat is better. With them... well there's a problem. The easily available (and IIRC, most or all of the difficultly available) BLM body pieces with Refresh are "Cannot Equip Headgear" items. So while there are some augment combos might be nice for nuking, NO AUTO-REFRESH FOR YOU!

And as for the look of the hat... I think I still like the Coven Hat and BLM AF hat better. It's certainly not worth ten bucks and jumping through a bunch of hoops. Also, inventory-1. At least I can store the Witch/Coven hats.

the AFv2 body is a refresh piece, but that is certainly not a nuking piece.

The only nuking piece for blm with refresh that can equip headgear is the Morrigan's coat, and we all know how easy to get that is. <_<

If you're nuking in an Auto Refresh piece that isn't Morrigan's, then you've already made a wrong choice to begin with. AR is mostly for standing around, moving from place to place, or resting anyways; why would it matter if you lose AR while you nuke?

What the hell? "Cannot equip <slot>" is one of the few things that FFXI's equip system gets completely and totally right.

How else do you propose equipment items that take up multiple slots, like tunics? Maybe they should have an option to put the hood down, but wearing a tunic with the hood down and a hat on would look retarded.

as DRG, I am wearing the Walahra Turban for melee/TP and changing to this helemt with similer stats.... -1 haste for all that extra DEF and other stats.... ((yes please)) ^.^

I agree, although I think I'll be making this the primary head piece for my BLU with STR and DEX +2 and Haste +4%

Gotta say though, I think those stats might also work for my SAM, NIN, and WAR while adding a small DEF boost that the W. Turban doesnt provide.
