New Avatars? After alllll this time and FF14 announce, I think those new avatar will be one of those things that never really happened. And, if they ever do come out, I think they will be something no well planned and when will endup being useless. |

I mean yea, /Dnc is the only sub that can make Retaliate useful and I completely forgot all about it so really it's my mistake. It's also the only "useful" War sub I never fully leveled...I should seeing as it helps all melee jobs...but I just don't like dancing ._. Why? They've been working on FFXIV for years and it's production has had no negative effect on FFXI in the least. The announcement of a new MMO, something we *knew* was coming for years doesn't mean they're going to suddenly half ass FFXI. Both teams are completely independent and have always been so.

YES !!!! YES !!!! More WotG FTW !!! More medals FTW !!! More past lands to explore FTW !!! ~~Wish list~~ An enticing (and EPIC) reward for people to actually do/finish WotG... I really was enjoying the CS's and can't find anyone very interested in continuing the story w/o a foresee-able reward. Pretty sure I'd need to transfer servers to do any of the campaign missions for any of that awesome gear. More shinies to spend my Campaign ducats on... . And a COMPLETE OVERHAUL from SE GIMP'n CAMPAIGN. Seriously, they need to make it worthwile to invade the Beastmen controlled zones. I don't care if they leave forts as worthless but at least give us something to compensate... I <3 seeing a whole bunch of mobs Warp away 5min after the campaign battle begins leaving only worthless Forts for me to glare at before I turn in my tags to maybe break even on the teleport out there and back home. Some additional content for the original joblines would be pretty cool. My main is Dnc and that job (done right) is already pretty epic so I couldn't really wish for more on that. Sam is already crazy broken too... my next up job is Thf so I'd love some new content/abilities for the original jobs. I'm really enjoying my Thf of late, so additional abilities would be very surprising and very welcome. If SE feels Dnc needs something... A two handed weapon for Dancers would be neat to check out... lol... {Hasso} {Can I have it} (^_^)d

And besides, WHY would they have announced all the changes that they were making to jobs, less than a year ago I might add, when they KNEW they were going to be announcing a new MMO, IF they were only going to half-ass some new content? I, for one, am super duper excited about new content, and YES the Northlands are going to be awesome, and I would love to finish the WotG storyline! And I would Hope for some new Avatars and some changes to BLM job abilities, and overall just new stuff is super exciting! Yes Please. No more 20 minutes of hitting a fort for 150 exp. Even if they had only cut it in half, it would have been better than what they did to it.

I haven't logged into FFXI lately so I'm gonna have to check in my linkshell and see if any of them are thinking about giving it a try. That way we can possibly get on the same server and play together. I lol'd but ^THIS!

My Mood: | Re: Next Version Update Scheduled for Late July! (06/08/2009) This feels really. Freaking. Weird. I mean, the RDM update I would normally be looking forward has already . . . happened . . . soooo . . . Um . . . Summoner hauling a-go-go? Although, probably not; S-E is going to be all like "here, let's give them the new avatars to get them to shut up and remain distracted from the real problems of the job," like they've always been, excepting replacing "give" with "promise" in the past, obviously. So, since they are obviously going to be ignoring the meat of the Summoner job this update, I guess Black Mage, Thief, Puppetmaster, and maybe Dancer could use some looking at. As for all the jobs I plan on leveling/have leveled (Red Mage, White Mage, Paladin, Blue Mage), everything seems to be just fine. Game needs moar MDB gear, too. Northlands WotG zones. I know that people have been looking forward to that. Also, not to look too much in to it or anything, but has anybody else noticed that they specifically referred to the QA team this time around for some reason?

I will once again point out DRG, BST and PUP when it comes to SMN updates. SMNs seem to think they're somehow special because you have MP, but like the other above jobs, you're a borderline job. Adjust SMN too much in one direction and there goes job balance. All the above jobs got incremental adjustments over time, especially BST. SMN is just as sensitive a case. So's PUP. Half the SMNs in the game will never be happy until they're all "air strike" like Rydia or Yuna, though. I'll tell you right now that is never going to happen. Astral Flow is the closest you'll ever get on that one.

However, we also have to consider the impact on sign-ups for FFXI. It still gets a surprisingly good number of new or returning players, for such an old game. Once there's something new and shiny out, these players will preferrentially flow to FFXIV. SE has maintained they'll continue to support the game (it would be financially stupid of them to say otherwise). However, the amount of investment versus the return they can expect will definitely change. With the release of episodic content in ACP, I'm already concerned that they're starting to milk the remaining player population, instead of making serious developments.

MNKs "just wanted" an update too. Look what they got. New Avatars alone won't solve SMN's woes anyway. I still don't believe a job should get an update just because other jobs are getting them. Look at the RDM update. There's no "just cuz" about that update, it was designed to reinforce the fact that RDM solo is situational and RDM was also granted enhanced buff duration for magic cast on themselves. Enspell IIs were given a distinctly different function than the first tier. These themes suit RDM without making RDM game-breaking. |
