RUMOUR: FINAL FANTASY XI coming to PLAYSTATION 3 System?

This image has nothing to do with FFXI on the PS3.

This is the third time I seen people assuming that and not once has anything anyone said even come remotely close to suggesting that. This image is for FFXI's 7th Anniversary and nothing more. Over at BG (where people assumed the same thing about a PS3 Port) Elmer started reading through the forums this was posted on and *NO* information was given about FFXI being moved to the PS3. All he could find was comments on how they've reached their 7th year and how the magazine would celebrate by giving detailed tips and such like camp locations and walkthroughs.

At this point, there is NOTHING even hinting at a PS3 port of FFXI, so don't get your hopes up.

Edit: Unless Pai Pai has already read the actual article that is, but after the Time Mage debacle, I'm still weary unless I see SE themselves announce it.

Sounds like a good idea in theory but I have it on 360 and still play on the PC instead. Same would probably happen if I got it on PS3.

I believe the news originated from Wii@Everyday and the new Famitsu, but it seemed like confirmation was popping up everywhere. I'll look for a full scan and read the issue myself but until we get any confirmation we'll take this down to a rumour.

I don't think the issue comes out until friday, or at least that's what Elmer was reporting on BG.

I mean, if SE did port FFXI to the PS3 then that would be a great thing imo and really help boost the game up some as new players still join this game every day, so a PS3 port could just open the doors even more to more people. But after the ass-hatty way Sony handled FFXI already, and SE's wonderful "FU" to Sony in making FFXIII multi-platform, I doubt those two will be able play nice for a long while.

SE has an incentive. FFXI is supposed to be a game without borders. They've never done a good job of handling multiple platforms. They almost had it when they released it on 360, but they're fallen behind again.

Yes, FFXI works on backwards compatible PS3s now. It didn't when the PS3 was launched. There's a thread around here somehow about the patch that added the support needed to make it work.

Seriously, i rather ffxi goes on the next gen of PSP. MMORPG on the go, now i can spent more time with FFXI.

Did you guy know, koei's Uncharted water online is now on Ps3? The game is as old as FFXI and there is no update on graphic on the ps3. It play much like it was on PC (i really like the graphic on pc version anyway)

That is a MMO games... so that what you would expect if FFXI does go on ps3... i don't think it will be any popular ... But on psp is another story.

You mean right at launch right? I have a 1st generation 60 GB model and it runs fine (looks like shit on my 48" TV though due to the 480i resolution of the game)

I've been running it off my PS3 since before WotG came out so...

EDIT: Ah ok. I kinda just skimped over what you were saying

so they're fixing it for all the new models of PS3. Now if they'd just put the god damn PS1/PS2 play back in fully into the newer models so that in the event my current one dies (and being a 1st gen it likely will at some point) I'm not SOL...
