It's almost time for this year's FINAL FANTASY XI Vana'diel Census! We'll be taking a look behind the scenes at the numbers that made up your world in the past year.
For the 9th Vana'diel Census, we'll be trying something different: a preliminary survey to find out all about each adventurer's day-to-day life in Vana'diel.

I think the bulk are going to fall into the top two slots there. I mean, couldn't they have made the gaps smaller and maybe not gone up to 10m+/week? Seriously, who makes that much?

In a week where I do nothing but craft, I could make between 500-700k.

Already Made 333k for the week.

In a week where I do nothing but craft and have no competition at the AH, I could make between 900-1MIL+.

But I'd never have time to do anything else. I was supposed to be crafting for the past two days, but I decided to go out and level BLM.

I like the method they're going about gathering the data for this year, actually: I can say that my favorite job combination is RDM/PLD as opposed to them just looking at me in game and going, "well, this Tarutaru bloke right here is leveling Paladin right now, must be his main job."

Only possible problem I see with it is that my linkshell can be rather unaware of the very existence of playonline.com: every time an update hits and someone finally says something about it, everybody always seems so surprised, as if it's the first they have ever heard of it. A good couple of weeks in to the April update and I had to explain what Enspells II were and how they worked while farming for an Ordelle Chest Key. Of course, that's just a very long and anecdotal way of saying "non-response bias," but, eh, what can you do?

Since the 1000+ IS I get from Besieged is worth at least 10k gil as silver pieces by the warp taru, and I try to get into as many battles as possible, that's at least 100k/week, knocking me right out of the first two categories. Every now and then I'll take 20 or so gold pieces, trade them in Nashmau for silvers, then bazaar coins overnight. When I do campaign, the conversion isn't quite as good, but I will spam Iron Ram Shields until I'm down to 100k AN.

I've got a lot of potential money making available, with over 400 B-seals and almost 70 K-seals, not to mention the 70K IS and the 100k I'm going to get when I find a group for Windurst 9-2.

I think a stat I would like to see would be "how much gil do you usually have on hand". I try to keep 1 million on hand at all times, and hitting 2 million meant it was time to start buying a few things. (I'm at 1.3m right now) Then there are the people who are always broke and have trouble holding onto 1k and have to beg for teleports. But this is something that shouldn't need a poll to find out.

On that same note, I am from San'doria and I have never paid attention to the fact that they were racing each other.

I find it a bit humorous that they listed "Selling the rights to lot on items" as one of the possibilities for the question on how you make most of your gil.
