Return Home to Vana'diel Campaign—The End Draws Near! (04/14/2009)

It has been our distinct pleasure to reunite with the multitudes of adventurers that have returned home to Vana'diel via this year's campaign. Those of you who have yet to take advantage of this offer—take heart! The campaign will continue until Tuesday, April 28th at 1:00 a.m. (PDT).

Improvements to the system this time around have made it possible for the vast majority of your beloved characters—with only the rarest exceptions—to be reactivated, and participants will be rewarded with the ever-popular Anniversary Ring accessory.
Don't miss out on this special opportunity!

For further details regarding the campaign and how to apply, see here.

Too bad the rules are so strict. I was hoping I could get away with canceling and reactivating just to get another Anni Ring...

I would merely like a chance to get my first Anni-ring

... do we have any idea when those usually begin dropping from the Moogle's pockets? I ask in LS but never get a clear or believable answer.

In 2007, it ran from May 11 - May 31. In 2008, from May 12 - May 28.

They usually give those out at the Anniversary in May. The speculation is that they'll be giving out the Kupofried's Ring instead. I missed getting my Anniband last May, but I was able to get mine last December when they started the "Return to Vanadiel Campaign." If you didn't get one from the Anniversary last May, you might still be able to get one now. My question is...If the Kupofried's Ring is the new Anniband, will we be able to hold both this year, or will we have to use the Anniband up and drop it before we can get one?

Shame SE doesn't offer free months to old accounts. Seen EVE online do it once or twice; so much more of an incentive to be able to give it a shot on your old character at no-risk than to either start on some random new character or risk putting down $13 on a game you might still not want to play.

Well I guess they figure it's not a terribly high amount of money. Would be different if they were charging you several months.

Re: Return Home to Vana'diel Campaign—The End Draws Near! (04/14/2009)

1- Doesn't matter. Any amount of money is a big barrier to spend on a game you already quit for a reason. 2- EVE online doesn't charge for months at a time unless you want to pay months at a time, and they still do it.

It's a matter of getting people back into the game. Losing $13 on someone who's not going to return is more than made up for by the people that do return, and pay $13 for months or years afterwards.

Meh, I guess I don't see it from the perspective of someone who quit. I've bought DVDs for $20 that I ended up not liking but I still didn't feel like it was a terrible loss, so I guess I don't look at it as a huge barrier to coming back.

But I can see what you're saying.

Re: Return Home to Vana'diel Campaign—The End Draws Near! (04/14/2009)

I'm curious about this. After reading the rules, I'm confused as to wether or not I'll be able to re-activate my account. I canceled my content ID's in October 08, so I wouldn't have to pay for them for this deployment. I should just be able to re-activate them right? I'm not worried about the return home crap, but they're saying they delete your account info after 3 months....which wasn't the case the last time I re-activated my content ID's....am I gonna be o.k.?
