The fast-approaching April version update is set to be a veritable banquet of adjustments and additions catering to all adventurer palates, with the dishes on offer ranging from succulent morsels of Salvage to delightful bite-sized treats such as the new "/bell" text command.

/bell Command Bonbons!

Using the "/bell" command while equipped with either a "Dream Bell" or "Dream Bell+1" obtainable from the 2008 Starlight Celebration event will allow your character to flourish said bell to a jovial chime. To specify a note in an octave, simply add a space followed by a number from 1 and 8 to the text command. Synthesis variants of the abovementioned bell items will be introduced in the coming version update to accommodate adventurers who were either unable to acquire a dream bell, or had unwittingly discarded theirs.



Fellows Flambé!

In the past, fellows could only be attired with special event gear for the duration of the events from which they are sourced. From the next version update, however, your adventuring fellow may be outfitted with such items regardless of the occasion if called while you are equipped with certain pieces of equipment. Furthermore, the selection of equipment items obtainable by exchanging fellow points will be expanded.



Salvage Sauté!

As part of the initiative to revise the difficulty level and drop rate for all Remnants, the following changes will take place:

- Bhaflau Remnants:
The spawning requirements for the NM "Mad Bomber" will be adjusted so that it will appear regardless of the route chosen by the player.



- Silver Sea Remnants:
The drop rate for items obtainable from NMs that appear when certain conditions are fulfilled will increase slightly.

I hope there's a filter option for /bell commands. I can just imagine the clattering cacophony in Whitegate the evening this is out.

What if I don't want to set my adventuring fellow on fire? (Seriously, did the translators not know what "flambe" meant or what?)

Seriously, though... they didn't save the best for last. None of this stuff really compares to FoV, the WHM and RDM changes, or lots of other things in this update. On the other hand, what's already been announced would make a pretty awesome update even without any of this stuff.

P.S. There's not that much music you can do with one octave (actually, less than one, or it would be 0 to 8) and no accidentals. But maybe they'll expand it in the future. Two full octaves plus accidentals could do a fair amount.

Well the patch goes live today, right? So any really big stuff they would save for this afternoon. Not even really sure why they bothered to release this kinda weak teaser when we're already pretty excited about the other features but /shrug.

These probably could have just been saved for the update notes, though it does explain why they had a pic of tarus with bells in one of the update notes.

There's a lot of stuff in the update today, though. Dunno what I want to do first, probably the missions if I can even get this all downloaded before I go to bed.

I'm guessing this is just an attempt to get people to realize they really do remember what day the update is. Y'know, the gaggle that always freaks out about the absence of update notes in the hours they're awake before the update starts and the full info gets posted.

I can't wait for somebody to place a GM Call because 18 people decided to create an alliance so they could play "Jingle Bell Rock" "The Sandoria" "One Winged Angel" theme with their bells and lag out Whitegate. Also....NO ONE TELL THE BARDS!
