The crown was an inventory penalty for getting a nice ring and access to Captain rank.

I'm still holding out for hope that the crown be justified somehow. The one we get is signed by Naja... maybe she crafted a decoy and is still holding on to our rightful reward?

And it would be nice if the next reward wasn't yet another ring or earring. Maybe a nice back, ranged, or ammo piece?

I wouldn't mess with ranged/ammo as you could screw over a few classes for rewards if you chose to go that route. You know the CORs, RNGs, THFs and SAMs that make frequent use of ranged.

As for the crown... the hidden effect was covered in the Three Expansion Chapter topic.

You have a point if we consider that both of each of our ring and earring slots already have a mission item for each of them. But like kitten said, ranged and ammo are pretty much no-gos.

Perhaps it would be best to go with a key item. Boost stats without using any inventory slots; like merits; and just have the key item to look at and go "yay I have another imaginary shiny thing"

Back, Waist and Neck are still viable for mission rewards. I think adding more earrings would just further diminish the value of things like Diabolo's of Fenrir's earrings. I'd like at least some of the avatar rewards to count for something.

Unless it's been changed, this would be suicide for anyone that would be using ranged attack (melee), as it would wipe TP.

We have enough Earrings and Rings as it is.

The trick is to find an accessory slot that's rarely put to good use by a lot of jobs. Now, because we do have jobs that focus on ranged attacks this rules out Ammo and Ranged, and not everyone can use grips

Neck Back and Waist seem like the ideal choices here. Honestly, if we get one more god damned earring I'ma flip on SE. A ring maybe, since I have Rajas and Balrahn's and I rarely use the two together. I have plenty of earring combos though tyvm (Brutal, Ethereal, Moldavite and Suppa tyvm. Possibly Loq or switch ethereal for Magnetic some day [that is the +20 MP and +5 conserve right?])

ugh but then most of the Relic accessories are waist items too. The problem with a back piece is, at least as far as melee goes good fucking luck making something that's gonna make me take off my Amemit +1 for.

Neck.

Waist is too good 48-75 with Life Belt, they'd have to introduce something absurd to replace Life Belt.

Back is too good with Amemet Mantle and stuff like Boxer's or Cerberus's, same thing.

Although in my opinion Feet is an even more useless slot for a lot of jobs for a really large part of the game, but that won't fly.
