Bahamut, Odin, Alex and Phoenix are who I'm interested.


At the very least, the "too big" problem rules out Cait Sith thankfully. They could also be avatars we haven't even seen yet (though technically we haven't actually seen phoenix so she could still be viable in that respect) but there's a few things to consider;

1) We're missing 2/5 Terrestrial Avatars (Bahamut, Phoenix)

2) We are also missing the remaining two Celestial Avatars (Odin and Alex)


Either way, I have a strong hunch that it all might have something to do with ToAU's ending, which would be cool and more reason for people to get going on that. And unlike CoP and Zilart, there's a hell of a lot of activity in ToAU areas anyway so I doubt motivation will really be a problem.

People will bitch initially that you need to beat an entire expansion (and maybe I'm a tad biased here for having beaten them all so far) but they'll get over it pretty quick. If not they can eat shit.

Odin and Alexander are not like the other celestials. They're awakened celestials, meaning they basically don't owe you jack.

Bahamut is not missing, he's just to freakin' big. Making a smaller Bahamut would kinda go against him being Bahamut. Phoenix is dead, that's kind of a problem. Gotta wait for her to do the whole rebirth thing. Since she died out in the Far East, there's probably going to be something to that if we ever get out that far.

The Astral Gate thing is said to lead to the realm of the avatars. Doesn't mean we'll meet Odin or Alexander there, though. Odin kinda set up shop in Einherjar. That's his crib, he sometimes strolls out to kill people as Dark Rider just for kicks.

Alexander, well, who knows where went. He requires a construct to possess.

We have two Darkness-based avatars, both terrestrial, which offsets the need for a celestial one, but we're lacking one light terrestrial to compliment Carbuncle, which would he Phoenix. Cuz she dead, yo.

That doesn't mean one of the lesser avatars couldn't fill the spot, though I think we're just going to see more avatars aligned with water, fire, ice, wind, stone and lightning. Light and Dark-based avatars SE never gives up so easy. Even unlocking SMN was a bit of work.

All that said, the Crystalline Prophesy expansion chapter does feature a primordial crystal (which we consider the mothercrystals as well) and I think that could very well be a link to a new avatar. New mothercrystal means a new terrestrial avatar or possibly a rebirth of one.

Wrong again. He requires a vessel, which is actually what an Avatar is supposed to be in the first place; a vessel for another soul.

Need I remind you that Alexander didn't possess the machine, he possessed Razfahd (sp?) who was operating it, just like Odin possessed Luzaf.

A few more things; Phoenix is considered primarily fire element with Light as a secondary. She burns things before reviving people (though both in the same action <3 Rebirth Flame) and that "Crystal" is not a mother crystal... where did you even get such a ridiculous notion? It's obviously the Star of Tavnazia.

I know it is very unlikely, but for a while, I've been hoping they'd put in a whole new elemental wheel of avatars, maybe make them a lower set of avatars or something. Off the top of my head, you could have: Salamander, Remora, Siren, Golem, Quezacotl, Bismarck. Make them have less blood pacts than the normal ones, but hit harder, and have a slightly lower Perp cost.

A big difference betwen Alex/Odin and the rest of the Avatars. All the other Avatars, including Bahamut and Diabolos, in their own twisted way, were trying to help protect the world. Alex and Odin, well they don't really give a rats ass about the world, they just want to destroy each other. Odin specifically is a nasty little sower of chaos and destruction. It's even been rumored he was the one who created and raised the Kindred to follow the shadow lord. He leant out his Powers to Luzaf only to further his own ambitions, and it was deal with the devil in the most literal of meanings. Alex didn't lend anyone his power, as soon as they truely woke him up, he took control on his own and started doing his own thing. Those two are NOT ever going to play nice with people.

Cait Sith isn't even an avatar, it's a being outside of our current relm of understanding. And a case may be made for Phoenix, but that would only be once they release more far western content, which seems unlikely. If we get anything new, it won't be based on something already in game.

You're not entirely correct here; Only the Terrestrials give a damn about Vana'diel; none of the Celestials do. That's why they are feared as the "Slumbering Gods" or did you never attempt Waking the Beast/CoP?

Odin and Alex are just examples of what would happen if the others had also awoken. They quite literally are Gods who allegedly existed in the Vana'diel of Old (the one only the Zilart could live in) and thus would remain if the mother crystals were ever made whole again;

Bahamut and the others are mere beasts turned into God-like beings. They protect Vana'diel with their power because they don't want to revert (though Carbuncle seems feel differently Oo)


And yes, Odin is the lord of the Underworld and the one whom Raogrimm sought out to obtain his army of Kindred. Phoenix comes from the far east btw, or did you forget about the slaughter that occurred in Tenzen's home?
