Again too little too late.

Re: December Version Update Preview (11/17/2008)

Durahan, I'm pretty sure the drops on those was adjusted a while ago :D

Anyway, it doesn't affect me much that people might bazaar in jeuno... I spend very little time there and when I do... its mostly in rulude gardens because thats where the warping taru drops me off, i just hope bazaars dont move THERE still i dont mind... i dont lag that much in rolanberry when im browsing there, TBH.

Protip for SE: new bazaar system we can has? Similar to the auction house where you can buy something off of someone but without it being... an auction, you could see the listed price and could also browse using the same system as the AH... people could list items for sale from their moghouse storage! ... wouldnt this be pretty good?...

What would anyone have to lose with this? stuff could be sold even while you were offline.. so mules wouldnt be there lagging the server...

Another suggestion that would be pretty awesome (i should mail SE): locking items. some people bazaar their possessions for the max price so they dont drop them accidentally since an item that's listed cannot be traded/sold to npc/auctioned/dropped... so ... its probably time SE did something to prevent accidental drops by letting us flag an item as "locked", would also be great for those accidental ranged attacks... ...

; ; I miss my smart grenade.

The other 10 people killing crabs certainly are getting keys as well.
This is also largely why BSTs live in Boyhada Tree and Ifrit's Cauldron. Why just solo EXP or skill up when hardly anyone is touching the coffers in those zones? I often get another key before the coffers repop.

My only concern is hordes of RMT swarming these things again. As much as SE says RMT activity is down, they've had some really desparate tactics elsewhere as of late, the POL PM/email spam and Jeuno AH pricefixing chief amoung them.

At least Ifrit's Cauldron coffers will reman safe, and probably temple of uggy's, too. No one likes coffer hunting in those two places.

Challenge: Say something positive for once. And no, nothing starting with "I'm positive..." because sometimes that can be a negative depending on the situation.

Re: December Version Update Preview (11/17/2008)

Especially if you consider the multiplicative nature of the gil drops, it's pretty easy to exploit for RMT purposes. A coffer that normally gives 1 person 12k doesn't see much of a drop off if opened with several party/alliance members, so for example RMT groups farming Sky trigs to sell can easily send one person to pop coffers here and there and bank an instant 100k~.

I won't complain at all though, I plan on using my mule to dual box and farm during my downtime most nights, and getting a bit extra from picking coffers would be a welcome boost.

Raydeus, being one who hasn't gone through the infamous coffer AF pieces yet, I thoroughly appreciate these changes, and I am sure the influx of new players would also agree. You and all of the other 75 veterans out there aren't the only ones in the game, and while I personally feel for all of you, I believe the "better late than never" sentiment is well-justified.

Re: December Version Update Preview (11/17/2008)

I thought gil from coffers was reduced when spread among multiple players?

Mind you one time in an XP party we found the chest in CN on our way to camp and popped it, everyone got 3~5k.

Re: December Version Update Preview (11/17/2008)

It's somewhat reduced but the total is still plenty higher than what a single player would get, much like how BLM agas will still do more damage in total across all targets despite the fact that the damage per target is reduced.

Ya it was an absolute nightmare back in the day. Thats when this update would have been a blessing and more than welcomed, but now...? Is it really that hard to get your coffer? I've done several af's recently for myself, friends, and family. Not once was there an issue with the coffer, well besides going from spot to spot and finally finding it. But usually 9/10 you went in, eventually found the spawn where it was and popped it.......and NOW they want to significantly cut the respawn time? It's just not needed.

Re: December Version Update Preview (11/17/2008)

Depends on the zone, there are still some areas where coffers are frustrating and the timers are large part of that. Think about how easy to Garliage coffera are to get to now and think about how many people you have to compete with now as well.

Now, I'd really just like to see SE spill the beans on some new zones. Yeah, I know its mainly just Xarcabard, CZB and all that, but I'm more suspicious of all that NPC talk about reopening places like Fort Karugo-Narugo to restore them. There's gotta be something to that

Re: December Version Update Preview (11/17/2008)

I'm kinda meh on this one.

Jeuno > Whitegate warps:

Kinda nice, but Jeuno has been bypassed as the main city hub by now, and the starter towns can take you to the past, Whitegate, or any zone you have the OP warp to.

This does open up Jeuno as an equivalent hub though. Assuming you have the Qufim OP warp, you can go to your starter town, past, or Whitegate pretty quickly.

Coffer/chest changes:

From my observations on LS coffer hunts, I'm not seeing any problem for the most part. The only issues I have seen are when swarms of RMT go in for their upgrade from their starter armor. While it's annoying, it also doesn't happen that often.

Exp band stuff:

This I kinda like. AN is far easier to obtain than CN or IS for me. I'm hopeful that we might see some more of the CN items on the AH, but kinda doubtful. 600 CN to recharge an Emperor band isn't that much and doesn't count that much towards the higher cost CN items.

So yeah, some of this is kinda meh, would've been better sooner, much like picking a server to be on, but it is kinda nice to have it now.

Now expand the moghouses dagnabit! I want more room to put in furniture and make an actual house!

Cause every MMO is perfect from the start? Get over yourself please.

For only a preview these are very good, although obviously my attention is towards that player-made dungeon they announced <_<. It's nice to see that SE in the last 2 years have been fixing problems that have gone ignored. But of course I guess if we think like Raydeus, its better to leave them the way they are since that's how they were since retail?
