Feenicks, you're not taking into account that those prizes would be distributed accross about 20 servers, and also that a significant amount of gil was also removed from the economy through the marbles.

EDIT: If you assume all winners bought 10 marbles, ~9,000,000,000 gil was removed from the economy. The actual number is likely much larger.
