Re: New Notorious Monsters (06/04/2008)
Kraken Club is only really broken in one context, and that's when applied to DRKs using Soul Eater plus Haste silliness.

Other than that, it's just an amusing little toy, but that one case of being horribly broken still means it's broken, due to how severely it can be abused in context.

Ridill is broken in another sense, in that it's just miles and away better than anything else in its class, and requires merely luck over skill to acquire.

There's lots of broken gear in the game though. Speed Belt, HQ Elemental Staves (or even NQs), Duelist's Chapeau, several of the completed relic weapons (Gjallarhorn in particular), Black Belt (yes I know it's a pain in the rear to get, but it's still an absurdly good piece of gear in a slot not normally known for good gear). Ninurta's Sash would qualify too, if anyone actually could figure out how to beat Absolute Virtue.

Re: New Notorious Monsters (06/04/2008)
To hear some of the people in my server talk about it (I'm betting Sevv knows who I'm talking about) "Ridill isn't even that good anymore." Yes, someone said that, someone you know Sevv (and probably don't like cause no one apprently does except his "loyal dicksuckers" which is all bullshit but gotta <3 BG) and I heard it with my own ears on vent. Because my boyfriend happens to be in that shell and sometimes I get to overhear fun vent conversations about how Ridill sucks now when, IMO, zomg if I ever got one I think I would fuck it. Seriously. Of course my WAR is 59 but we're working on it. XD

Elitists ftw ... or ftl ... I thought I was bad but damn that's a whole new level of elitism.

PS Sevv you don't have to ask who it is you know. But if you want confirmation feel free to PM me, sure some of you others probably know who I'm talking about also.

So point of post, no matter what great new gear people are getting always someone is going to be there to tell you how gimp you are for having it, but we can't all play this game 24/7 lol. So yeah, don't nerf Ridill because, "It's not even that good."

If anything is truely broken, its parsers, mainly people who use them like oxygen, that drove the game to this point with gear and weapon combos.

I know, I'm close to completing my dd/ws gear to make use of dding with clubs on whm and justice/joy combo on rdm(need to stock up on virtue stones v_v ) Sad part is, I'm closer on those jobs than on thf cause no one seems to does sky anymore T_T I'll never see heca or get in assault/salvage groups for the nyzle or that really nice salvage set. Though I can probally make some due after a few weeks farming grind to stock on ks for ks99 and ks30 for my haste/crit build. /cry.

Guys, don't feed the troll. Even if it looks like a hamster.

If he had anything to say other than "I spent X hours camping so I deserve it" he'd have said it by now. "It's fine, learn to claimbot" is not an argument, so don't respond to it like it was one.

Omg I lold, Honestly i loved the claimbot shit. Hi I have been kicked from linkshells because I don't bot, ever seen the few dozen free fafnir screenshot's I have posted? I mean, I did work for my ridill, I camped it I put in time, I merited before hand. So please dear god, try and pull the botting card with me, because everytime you post concerning endgame you show how much of endgame you really know.

And yes Aksannyi I lold a bit with that comment, Ridill is leaps and bounds against the off hand swords. The Joyeuse is very much a great off hand weapon and much easier to get, but dropping a ridill into an unmerited war without a few equpiments needed, it is going to hurt the war's progress.

Kings is not perfect, its not horribly broken tho. Would forced pops solve a bunch of issues? Yes, Does the gear need nerfing, which happens to be a huge theme for these boards? NO.

This is not the spill you sandy vag about kings thread, this is about the New NM's please keep your bitching about kings which is a common theme, to the kings threads. And who here does kings?

Re: New Notorious Monsters (06/04/2008)
I did kings for four years - still do once in a while - and probably have more kills on kings and their NQ equivalents than most people in this thread combined. I'll still be the first to say the system in place sucks. Make 100+ people stand around waiting for three hours every day so that they get a shot at fighting something that might have a miniscule chance of providing something more interesting than a Neptunal Abjuration: Head (and if you don't know why this is funny, you haven't spent enough time at endgame hunting kings ).

Who said getting to fight these mobs will be easy? They pretty much said we have to "buy" our way into these battles and we can only get a limited amount of points to "spend" per game day. It's basically like doing quests and getting Beastmen Seals as a reward. And for all we know these quests may be as simple as "go fetch me this item" to "go kill XX mobs" or whatever. And again, it wouldn't be that far fetched for them to put in some sort of tiered system where certain NM fights drop certain items that open up more NM fights.

Don't Rng and Cor make good use of Kclub? There are more jobs that can make good use of the K club as opposed to the amount of jobs that can even equip the Ridill, let alone use it to it's fullest extent.

I see more Kclubs then Ridills, because more jobs can use it effectively. Ridill, it's a War and Drk toy, maybe even Thf. But those three jobs also have other weapon types and combat builds that are just as effective on many mobs, if not moreso, then Ridill. Hell, just about everyone and their sister nowadays has a Joytoy, including yourself, how would you feel if that was suddenly nerfed into uselessness?

And Parsers didn't drive people to "this point" of the game, people drove themselves there. If there were no Parsers someone would make one. People like to see their progress and effectiveness and doing it with numbers is a solid way to see this.

FF's always had a few pieces of stupidly broken gear/magic. It's part of the franchise. As for Odin dropping "worse" stuff than Fafnir,
you tell me how any of these are worse. (Particularly when they can stack with D ring)

and just for shits and giggles

If those two items aren't the best helm and body a PLD can wear then IDK what is (especially with D ring, Hauteclaire, Aegis and Askar Feet)

<----- Can I have it?

Isn't cap for -phys/magic damage taken 25% for both types?

Well, yes and no. Nobody tanks anything serious as pld/war anymore. It's all /nin. So most of your damage mitigation and enmity generation tools are on recast timers that'd be affected by slow. You'd constantly be macroing that stuff out. Even the JAs which aren't affected by slow you'd want to macro something in of +enmity. Those two pieces pretty much go in an "oshi-" macro. This is all assuming you don't mind blinking like a christmas light. Personally I try to keep visible gear swaps to an absolute minimum when tanking, and slow+10% full time gets a hearty {No thanks.}

So after typing that I amend my answer. It's not "yes and no" it's just "no." Only in a very niche situation like say Citadel Buster would I think the -damage on that armor was worth its drawbacks.

So it's no big deal to lose one multi-hit item because you have a back up multi-hit item?

Yes, because everyone who uses a parser is an elitest asshat. I mean, it's not like people want to use it to know the exact changes in effectiveness between two pieces of gear, or to see how one combat tactic fares over another. Parsers are used solely and singularly because people want to kick you from parties if you don't Parse at least 1% higher then the guy next to you. /sarcasm

1) You posted the same pic twice

2) That slow would really hurt Pld's ability to tank, especially when stacked so much. Plds specifically go after Haste gear to help with recasting times on Flash and Cures, so throwing on Slow would probably hurt them more then taking that 5% extra dmg,

3) I agree that FF always had some broken things in it, all games and RPGs do. Just because there are rules and balances doesn't mean some things can't be above and beyond them. It's kind of like a CCG, the rules are always in effect and apply to everything...except those cards that specifically say they can break the rules.
