I haven't even started on my Dyna relics and most likely won't since I don't have the massive amount of gil to upgrade them. =/

Best part is going to be when after all the work to get people finds out Joy still does more dmg.
Thanks to the wonder that is .DAT mining, I can be disappointed by the weapon's value long before I've upgraded it. :D
BurningPanther is DEAD. Long live Sunrider.

I'd love to see an armor/weapon implemented that's actually attainable.
In the moonlight, your face it glows.. like a thousand diamonds, I suppose.
And your hair flows like.. The ocean breeze...
Not a million fights could make me hate you, you’re invincible. Yeah, It’s true.
It’s in your eyes, where I find peace.

Hopefully it gives a WS and/or has special properties like dynamis relic weapons that make it worthwhile. I can't imagine a weapon with "normal" properties being worth using over the options rdm already has.

Armando: Yes, unless it's a Galka DNC, then it has a chance at having own tempo.
Armando: In Soviet Russia, L Cancels you.
Yellow Mage: Smashing like it's 1999.

Joyeuse, Blau Dolch, Enhancing Sword, and Justice Sword. Guespiere and Mensur Epee. If you want to go there, Excalibur and Mandau. I guess you could throw special purpose weapons like Macuahuitl +1 and Tutelary in there too. Lot of weapons with a lot of different properties that would be hard to compete with while being unique.

I think that really says it all; even moreso for our "options:" joytoy, joytoy, or joytoy? Or maybe the sword with the situational stat that isn't going to make much of a difference anyway? I mean, we aren't even comparing Excalibur anymore, we're comparing freaking Mandau.
Note, I'm aware of the fact that, like all other relic weapons, Mandau will occasionally do about 3 times more damage than normal. However, if Joyeuse can be compared with the Relic with the best DPS among the Relics, then that really speaks for itself. I would have accounted for the 3 times more damage if how often it proc'd were known.

Re: The Myriad Arms of Balrahn (02/05/2008)
Just because a "best option" exists doesn't mean there aren't options. Single wielding, there's not much that can beat Joyeuse for DPS. It pretty much takes a relic weapon. There's something to be said for the superior WSes of a Blau, and I think Callisto still chooses E Sword over joytoy. And of course, there's always the situation of dual wielding.
Whether Murgleis/joytoy is better than Murgleis/xcal depends on the Murgleis ws. The additional damage on the xcal is pretty potent depending on your hp. But if you're debating which relics to dual wield how when you leave your mog house in the morning you could probably crush anything with your enormous epeen anyway.
Ah but there's another catch you are missing there YM;
Relic weapons can randomly proc for 2-3 times normal damage, on top of their special abilities (Excal does 25% of your current HP in damage, Mandau has that disgusting poison effect) and if I'm not mistaken that DPS is taking into account Joyeuse's multi-swings.
