Yes it does. It makes it look stupid.

I mean, I enjoy Star Trek, but there's stupid bullshit like this all the time in there too. Doesn't mean it doesn't look nice, but putting any rational thought into it makes it less enjoyable.

Agreed. Most Klingon weapons are as dangerous to the wielder as to the target
and they look stupid too

Re: The Myriad Arms of Balrahn (02/05/2008)
This is alot easier then getting a relic weapon. Maximum time to take would be about 2 months. Minimum would be about month. It's alot easier then a relic. Just need to get the feel for Nyzul Isle.

[EDIT] Oops, my number are a bit biased. I was basing them off of how often I did Nyzul Isle T.T

Err, don't forget that these items have to be crafted. The Nyzul Relic Weapons in their base forms are just one ingredient in each weapon according to the last Fan Fest.

It may be more difficult and time consuming than that. Someone on another forum said that the 20 current weapons that drop from Nyzul Isle are just one of the ingrediants to craft these new relic weapons, along with other things like imperial wootz ingot.

Re: The Myriad Arms of Balrahn (02/05/2008)
I see, I'll take my previous statement back for the time being till more information is revealed. I have the feeling though that it would be easier then the previous relics though.

Maybe you'll need to use 100 million Imperial Gold Pieces hehe

Um... How can you craft them? Both the ingredient and the result are Rare/Ex. That means that in order to obtain said weapon, you'd have to level the appropriate crafting skills yourself.

I'll say if they're crafted it will be NPC-crafted like Salvage/AF+1.

Re: The Myriad Arms of Balrahn (02/05/2008)
Well it does say it's an ingredient to new relics @ Fan Festival on Wiki. So most likely crafted by NPCs like everything else in TOAU (BLU AF/ COR AF/ Salvage /)

Re: The Myriad Arms of Balrahn (02/05/2008)
*sigh*

I don't like piercing-type Swords. Simple as that. "Ooh, but piercing's generally more effective than slashing," well, first off, the Weapon Skills are still Slashing, and secondly, if I wanted to use piercing damage, I'd use a Dagger. More Enspell procs, anyway. Or, heck, if I wanted to break the monotony a bit, I'd even fire an arrow.

Well, I guess beggars can't be choosers . . . but, then again, I didn't exactly beg for a new relic, now have I? Oh, well, to each his own . . .

Re: The Myriad Arms of Balrahn (02/05/2008)
Hopefully, they'll have the sense to NOT MAKE IT BASED 99% ON BUYABLE ITEMS THIS TIME.

FFS. Pardon my all-caps.

Make the other materials rare/ex too - I'd much rather wander the world collecting a taurus heart from Uleguerand, a manticore's eye from VoS, a gnole's tail from Jugner[s] etc. (that are all rare/ex) than just buy a bunch of expensive shit.

Defeated: Maat, Divine Might, Fenrir, Kirin, Cactrot Rapido, Xolotl, Diabolos Prime, Kurrea, 9/10 Dynamis Bosses (missing Tav), Promathia, Proto-Ultima, Proto-Omega, 4 Jailers, Apocalypse Nigh
RDM75, PLD75, DRG75, DNC26, COR27, RNG27

Re: The Myriad Arms of Balrahn (02/05/2008)
Holy crap for once I agree with Karinya...

Yes, please do not repeat the mistakes of Dynamis. Make this labor-intensive and not gil-intensive.

I'm all for a challenge, just not when it involves ungodly sums of money.

And now for speculation on what I'd LOVE to see on each weapon;

Conqueror: More Double Attack (like at least 5-10%)

Glanzfaust: Either kicks or more Martial Arts?

Yagrush: Offensive stats + Cure Potency

Laevateinn: Magic Attack and/or Accuracy (basically replace the 8 staves)

Murgleis: Serious boost to either Magic Acc or Enspells (much as I dislike them)

Vajra: Something to do with either enmity, drops/money, or crits (SATA?)

Burtgang: Damage Taken -5%? (just like the Valhalla gear) (Screw Hauteclaire)

Liberator: Increase power of Souleater and/or Absorbs?

Aymur: Crazy bonus to charm?

Carnwenhan: +1 to all songs (all the other stats can go to hell)

Gastrapheter: I honestly don't know... really low delay?

Kogarasumaru: Mods to Store TP/Meditate/Hasso/Seigan

Nagi: More Dual-Wield / Ninjutsu power up (1 extra shadow?)

Ryunohige: Crazy bonus to jumps and/or wyvern

Nirvana: -50% perp cost? Super-powerful avatars?

Tizona: Power up physical blue spells

Death Penalty: Instant death? XD (how about automatic job bonuses?)

Kenkonken: Automaton Boost

Terpsichore: ??? (uber new step & flourish?)

Tupsimati: Double effects of Light & Dark Arts.

Re: The Myriad Arms of Balrahn (02/05/2008)
Is "Nyzul Relic Weapons" the common name for these? So... Bland.

(I'd totally go for "Empire" or "Balrahn" as the label.)

Probably same reason people call the ToA HNMs "kings" - too lazy to think of somethings snazzier. The ToA HNMs have spawn times more like Wyrms and mythologically speaking two of them are brothers. So, I refer to them as "Brothers," really.

Re: The Myriad Arms of Balrahn (02/05/2008)
Dynamis Relic weapons isn't a snazzy name either. I think they just get names tagged to them because of where we get them.

Dynamis Relics should be renamed to Incredibly Hard to Acheive Weapons for the Rich. (I am on stage 4 finally ^^ only 7 mil gil more and the dyna drops to go and Im done excalibur ^^.)
