Showing the math that proves your point -- so agreeing.

Anyway, I think I'll be splitting the difference on my chances -- two marbles per number I play. I'll be playing at least two numbers, but if I have the space to spare I'll play more. If my mule qualifies since I levelled her to 5 yesterday, I'll just use her to produce a third instance of each number I play, as a big win on her would mean a cash prize by necessity anyway.

Besides, this way I don't have to be so torn if I do win. Hauteclaire + Homam Cosciales {Yes, please.} Or that Duelist's Chapeau I'll never be able to get any other way... -- Pteryx

Ya I'm with you on this one....I'll never get the freakin thing! Heck my husband has gotten screwed twice on his. Both times they went to rdms that were retired but they got it just because they wanted it. Hubby is a dedicated rdm and would be using the damn thing every day instead of it sitting in someone damn storage. /sigh

Re: Mog Bonanza

You know, the more I look at those craftable items the more I thinking this is come kind of deflation tactic SE is throwing in here. I'm kinda now wondering if I should even bother saving up for other Dusk pieces or a Vermillion Cloak when the market is going to be flooded with the materials for them from this event.

Re: Mog Bonanza

Definitely save up. if the materials get flooded, it's not going to be a very long term effect, so you'll want to be able to afford them before prices climb back up again.

But either you people are seriously overestimating the amount of people who are willing to triple or more their monthly charges for a benefit in a lottery, or I still have too much faith in humanity.

Re: Mog Bonanza

I might make one more mule. I'd been thinking about the prospect off and on for almost half a year now anyway, and if I did get a lot of tickets I'd probably need the storage space.

That said, 70k isn't small change for me either, so I can't say yet how deeply I'd invest. I'll probably focus on maximizing coverage rather than increasing payout, though.

And for the sake of example, if you had 100000 tickets covering each possible number, you'd have 1 rank 1 winner, 9 rank 2 winners, 90 rank 3 winners, and 900 rank 4 winners. Assuming all of that was gil payout, that's 370M gil. So it is conceivable that this could add gil to the economy (since the cost of tickets is 100M).

However, the rank 4 gil prize is fairly small compared to market value of most of the goods, so we can assume a majority of these winnings would be in terms of adding material, not gil. The rank 3 gil prize is better, but still pretty debatable. Let's say about 25% of winners took gil, though that's probably overestimating. Rank 2 is a different matter, there are some pretty darn nice ex items, but that gil payout is enough to make a huge difference on its own. Let's say 7 of these winners took gil. And let's say the Rank 1 winner took gil. That gives us 192M, which still nearly doubles the gil in.

So it's hard to say, but this may introduce a fair bit of gil into the economy. I wonder if they've decided this is safer than undoing some of the NPC-sourced gil nerfs used against RMT in the first place, and they're using this to prevent server economies hitting the lower-than-originally-planned deflation floor?

Re: Mog Bonanza

There are already many people making multiple mules and levelling them for this event, your faith in humanity is completely misplaced. I'll do the event on both of my characters, but I'm not going beyond the two main characters I have. I have one mule, it will stay level 1.

My condolences. I myself am unlikely to even get within lotting distance of one, though, seeing as I don't like the obsessive look of most endgame shells and I've never heard of any dedicated to doing Dynamis something like, say, once or twice a month instead of twice a week on the dot. Seriously, is being able to do some endgame content as a priority other than first too much to ask for?

One thing I'd likely do with some of the winnings is fund a screw-around-at-the-entrance run for national relic. -- Pteryx

^ Pretty much why I'm not going to bother making any more characters just for the sake of this event.

Or any more characters at all, if I can avoid it.

Re: Mog Bonanza

I think the gil sending limit would be pretty low on my list of concerns if I won the Rank 1 prize. Oh no, I have to take some extra time to send myself part of my huge amount of gil. Boo hoo.

Since I like Murphie and I don't want him to leave again, I will not say "aye."
