Oh yeah. Those lucky 100 million gil winners are going to jack up the prices on those luxury pieces they couldn't afford before, things like Spike Necklace, Beetle Earring +1, Bone Harness +1, etc. Man, I sure feel bad for those poor new players.

/sarcasm

As far as 100% chance of getting Rank 5 if you pick your numbers right... the irony will be taking a mule to level 5, and winning a Page of Miratete's Memoirs, only to find out that you can't even make use of it because of the level requirement.

Yes, but the small chance that your mule might get rank 1-4 is well worth the xp scroll you'll never use on it.

Items are a good thing, 100 mil gil is a horrible idea.

Re: Mog Bonanza

Why do you say that? It's not as though SE won't be removing hundreds of millions of gil from the economy just by having this lottery in the first place. Do you honestly think a bunch of people are going to win the Rank 1 prize?

Re: Mog Bonanza

I'm gonna toss 30k at it and see what I get out of it. The list of prizes is pretty cool....and someone has to try a low-man attempt at it.

Three characters worth isn't low man! Think about the new player thats just level 5 and can afford only 1 or 2 marbles! 1k or 2k at that level seems like a gold mine! LOL Better yet, imagine being that guy and winning 100 million gilz! I'd laugh so hard I'd make myself sick! LOL

Watching a brand new player win 100M gil would be absolutely funny. ...but I wasn't thinking about the newer player.

I was thinking about this.

Same here Balfree, but it wont force me back.. I'm quite happy playing the old FFXI games, and spending more time with my GF.

Re: Mog Bonanza

Even if every winner takes gil, it will generate no more gil than went into it. Since gil is clearly the chump prize in at least some pools, and some of the ex items are seriously awesome (a few monks in my LS have already claimed that they'd rather win rank 2 than rank 1, although I think they haven't quite thought it through; and what are my chances of getting a valk fork any *other* way?), not all winners will take gil, so the net effect will be to destroy gil, not create it.

However, concentrating the gil in fewer hands may make them more willing to spend it quickly, which is how RMT cause inflation without actually generating any gil. So it's hard to say what the overall effect on the economy will be, other than creating a bunch of R4 items and probably depressing their prices. (The price depression may even anticipate the event: do you want to buy a behemoth-hide-based item *now*? Wouldn't you rather wait to see if you win a hide and can get your LS leathercrafter to make you the same item, signed? On the other hand, the 2 month wait for prizes may dampen this a bit. Getting your item now is better than waiting 2 months to *maybe* get it.)

It's a 1 in 100,000 chance, and entry is 1k gil ... assuming the Rank 1 prize is taken, the average cost of getting the 100 mil gil is 100 mil. Then there are the other prizes...

Whoever thought about the lottery system was a genius. Applying it in a game is pretty common (remember those casinos awhile back?)

I'm not sure I get what you're trying to say here. Are you disagreeing with me, or agreeing with me?
