Maintenance operations will delete any reservations for Pankration matches. Players who are scheduled to participate in Pankration matches, those who will enter Assault, Salvage or Einherjar areas, or those who will participate in Dynamis or Limbus at the time of the maintenance, we ask that you please wait until maintenance is complete before engaging in these activities. Please note that we cannot replace items that are lost during the maintenance process.

Main reason for today's maintenance

Since the start of April 2008, we have been experiencing technical difficulties in various worlds and areas of FINAL FANTASY XI. The technical difficulties include not being able to access specific areas or not being able to use the auction house or delivery service. Hardware has been replaced in response to the issues, but the cause still remains unknown.

Our technicians continue to work with the hardware vendor to find preventive measure for the accessibility issues. To implement part of this preventive measure, maintenance will be performed on Apr. 23, 2008 from 10:00 to 12:30 (PDT).

Further preventive measures are being planned in the near future.
We will inform you via an announcement when details of the measure are finalized.

At this point, we are not able to guarantee that the service will return to full functionality once the measures are implemented. We would like to apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused and ask for your cooperation and understanding at this time.

What hour and a half wait time? If I'm responding to Allied forces going to beastman-controlled areas or to beastman forces going to Alliance-controlled areas, the wait for the real action (as opposed to just the tags popping) is, what, fifteen or twenty minutes? Learn to use campaign intel. If you're not getting enough while you're in your past nation, do some intel ops. -- Pteryx

Since FFXI is all about timesinks, I highly doubt that making us wait around less would really please SE. They like making us sit around doing nothing. Think of it this way, they're still getting paid while we wait around all day.

This is typical Army character, too. Rush your ass to a building for ... whatever it is you have to do ... then wait 4 hours, get a 15 minute presentation and be sent back to your company, where you wait for an hour for your CO to call you to formation so you can be dismissed. Total productive 'at work' time: about twelve minutes.

An hour and a half? What were you doing? Sitting around with your thumb up your... er... nether region waiting for the next one to start? There's a map, you can easily warp around between battles. If you're really curious, there's an intelligence officer in town right next to the OP NPC who will tell you what's currently under attack. Even better, if you have high intel levels, they'll tell you in town when troops are dispatched. Longest I ever had to wait was 15 minutes for the yags to deploy to West Sarutabaruta, (I assume they missed their bus).

I warp around when I want to rank up, but you can't say that the old system wasn't a hundred times better you could pick an area for the day and have a fight with down time of 5-10 min max.
