That's really not that much in disagreement with what I was saying. Especially given the actual context in which I was saying it. Of course you can use them in a party. But it's not a major factor in anyone's game (I doubt anyone's ever been passed over for a party invite because of anything having to do with their NPC), so it's no big deal to let them be Refreshed or Erased or whatever.

With much of the Conquest zones nearly deserted, one can't possibly argue there aren't enough places to go with NPCs these days.

Fellows popping up in the past (WotG zones) on call wouldn't make a single bit of sense story wise. It is just a game, but give me some consistency in the pretense for the sake of suspending reality.
Why should we leave the Fellows in zones that nobody visits anymore. That wasn't the whole point fo the fellowship idea. I mean if your not going to address the fact that they can't appear in the TOUA or WOTG areas. Then why even address them at all.

Why not. I lived thru 2 jobs getting abused by the NPC bug. I was also abused by the aquarius bug, af coffer key bug, mpk bug and so on. You don't like the fact my NPC and I are killing Colibri. You can always visit one of the million other npcless zones. Not to mention people kill colibri anyways with or without their npcs.

Consistency?Wasn't the NPC storyline referenced the the lands to the east? An was not the TOUA considered the lands to the east? An maybe their would be some consistency if S.E actually kept up with the storyline. I mean were talking about content that first came out early in the CoP expansion.

Re: Adjustments and addition to Fellows (02/26/2008)
I agree with what most of you have said. I remember when SE was hardcore about the Fellowship Program. I loved it. Still do especially when I solo in Conquest areas.
But you are all right. They've forgotten about the great Storyline set up for the fellows. That storyline lead right to Aht urghan, then SE dropped the ball.

it would be great to be able to Use the pokemon in those expansion zones. I dont understand why it's not enabled?

I've also used my pokemon in Exp situations. Where we only had 3-4 members. And didnt want to wait on another. They work great for their role and the extra damage they do.

I hope SE refocuses on them this year.

Yup. I've found NPCs to be more reliable tanks for dunes parties than players.

Edit:

I wonder if it'd be possible for BST and PUP rolls to hit just pets, and for BRD to get some kind of pet enhancing song. (Unless they have one and I missed it?)

The Puppet and Beast Rolls have to be rolled on the players controlling the pets for the buff to affect those pets.

Why should BRD get pet buffs? COR distinguishes itself from BRD in terms of buffs by having better options for the pet and mage classes than BRD. BRD is getting the ability to covert thier AoE buffs into single target, that's a huge update to the job itself, I don't think BRD needs to take away from another job. The AoE-to-Single Target conversion just wouldn't work for COR anyway, given Phantom Roll has a shared recast timer.

Re: Adjustments and addition to Fellows (02/26/2008)
I might just have to stop ignoring my NPC after all this. Being able to Phalanx II her will be a big help, she's only level 33 (I think?) and she gets owned fairly easily in most places that I solo. Perhaps I can bring her with me when I go farming on Thursday. (Only day with no events until Salvage, gives me plenty of time to rake in as much gil as I possibly can.)

Yeah. You can buff the master or you can buff the pet via the master. That's what I thought could be changed. Dunno if the timers would work out but having both master and pet buffed would be cool, and you wouldn't have to worry about overwriting other buffs.

As awesome as all these little additions/fixes are I would have much rather seen them working to get out dnc/sch fixed/AF and wotg missions out earlier(2 months ago) and save this for later(now).

Because AF has always come out right when an expansion does, right? They really are just sitting on it, and not looking and trying to decide what will benefit DNC and SCH, surely. That would just be madness, testing and making sure content was good before sending it out.

Who said they would have gotten all of those things out 2 months ago if they had re-ordered their development tasks? Perhaps all of those changes would have been ready 2 weeks ago, and this one later (now).

If people don't get what they want, they complain. If people get what they want, they complain that they didn't get it earlier. I guess the common theme is: people complain.

I think a better question is why would they release a major update a month after the expansion went live? I mean, it has been only 3 months since the expansion went live, and SE *always* releases the big updates, four times a year...which is every three months...

So why would they change their update schedule this time around?

Setting a precedent of failure does not make it ok to release every following expansion unfinished. The AF and the missions should have been in when I paid for it.

When a product is released and sold to the customer largely unfinished your first priority should be to finish that product and deliver to them what they had paid for.

Re: Adjustments and addition to Fellows (02/26/2008)
Then don't buy the expansion until AF is released. Problem solved.

S-E doesn't have to release AF at the same time as the new jobs. It's never worked that way and they've never made any promises about it. What's next, complaining that the whole scenario isn't available from the beginning?

Re: Adjustments and addition to Fellows (02/26/2008)
You've got two choices.

1) Complaining about lack of content when expansions come out, like this:

Quote:
When a product is released and sold to the customer largely unfinished your first priority should be to finish that product and deliver to them what they had paid for.
Or complaining that you burned through the new exp in 4 days and OMG why isn't the new expansion out yet?

After all, it takes SE about a year to fill out an expansion normally, so toss on an addtional year inbetween expansions.

I'm happy to wait myself. And in all honesty, your above qoute is incorrect. It's smart business sense to keep the people coming back for more. Periodic installments will insure that rather than one big massive update that's 5x the size of our current ones that crashes the FFXI servers and only a select few get to play the new expansion for the next week or two while everyone struggles to download it.

You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misqouted and then used against you.
