You do realize SE officially announced that a DX9 upgrade would occur around the WTG release, right?

The problem is that they won't get off their ass and get things prettified. Hell, they won't even give us a picture of the DX9 version.

Honestly though, I'd rather see FFXI branch out what platforms it's on than work on it's graphics. Some form of Wii version, Wine, and some sort of mobile app (possibly DS) would increase it's appeal.

Seriously though, they should just do what UO did and make multiple engines for the same content. That way, we can leave PS2 in the Dark Ages and move forward with the newer consoles and PC.
That's kinda what they do though, everything is the same, what changes is the emulation engine so the game runs on different platforms with pretty much the same models and content for all of them.

All an emulation engine/DX9 upgrade would do is improve performance (so you don't get a framerate drop whenever you are around other players) and allow for hardware aceleration features like Anti-aliasing and particle effects to work on PC.

Making a full model upgrade (so they took advantage of the new engine) UO-like approach would take way too much work to be worth it. I rather see the new next gen MMOG instead.

And an emulation engine remake/upgrade could make it easier to port to other platforms.

The ridiculously load times for some of the tabs is kind of annoying ... but it looks pretty damn nice.

Actually, there's nothing amazing about that, I suppose.

Anyone else notice that in one of the wallpapers in the media section shows an airship over Tavnazia? A Tavnazia before it was destroyed..so it seems.

Yep, just so you know you'll never be able to travel there.

...but you get a nice wallpaper instead.

Re: Introducing The Launch Of Finalfantasyxi.com!

I do like the one of the various characters standing around. But I got rid of the big ol' FINAL FANTASY ET AL text to the left of them. That's ugly.

Why no 08 collection for the Pc? I am sure going to hate to have to reinstall with the 07 collection or worse the original cd's.

Re: Introducing The Launch Of Finalfantasyxi.com!

They got bored from doing nothing so they decided to create an awesome website?

Seriously though, I also think it's promotional.
The long loading times could possibly be caused by many people watching the site in all it's newness.

Re: Introducing The Launch Of Finalfantasyxi.com!

It's a pretty sweet site, but they should have opened with an FMV showcasing all the expansions and the main story/cities. Seriously, do something epic SE.

Also, I agree that the CB music is an odd choice. Personally I <3 it, but they should have gone with the either the crystal theme or the standard FF theme (you know, the one from FF1-3 and 12)
