OFFICIAL FFXI Windowed Mode Support Confirmed!

At the Final Fantasy XI Premier Site Summit today, the Vice President of Community Relations of FFXI announced that they have confirmed that they will soon be implementing and making available the option to run Final Fantasy XI in Windowed mode without the use of any illegal third party programs. However, no specific timeline or time-table for the implementation was available.

The additional features comes after vocal support and demand by the community (YOU) to allow a built-in window mode option, announcing to the Premier Community Sites that the FFXI Team hear your requests and opinions and have responded.

Based upon how it was presented, those banned for using Windower will not be un-banned. It is my presumtion that those banned in that manner was using Windower for more than just to make FFXI run in a window.

Wow, I was just about to comment on that. We will see how many of the innocent players that were just using Windower to minimize and not for the plug-ins that were present by coincidence take it off.

If anything, this gives SE more authority to ban people that use the Unofficial Windowers. There would be no excuse to have it anymore.

I think many people will still use the windower. I do not personally use it myself but I know many people who do. I do not think that they would want to give up being able to see their party members tp.

Personally I cannot wait for them to implement a windowed mode. This has been one of my biggest complaints with the game since I started. Its about damn time they listened to their customers.

They already said this was coming in the interview with Bercus.

A lot of this seems underwhelming, like some very small changes to things that don't have problems at all (linkshells for example).
