Action Taken Against Third-Party Tool Users (10/19/2006)
Today, a number of accounts confirmed to be in violation of the user agreement through the use of unauthorized third-party software tools within FINAL FANTASY XI have been suspended or permanently terminated.

About Action Taken Against Third-Party Tool Users (Oct. 19)

Today, a number of accounts which were confirmed to have violated the user agreement by using unauthorized third-party software tools within FINAL FANTASY XI to enable abnormal in-game movement were discovered and have been suspended or permanently terminated.

Based on the results of an investigation, over 1,400 PlayOnline accounts have been either suspended or terminated on Oct. 19, 2006 for the malicious and intentional use of these third-party tools.

We would like to take this time to remind our players that the use of any third-party tools will not only destroy the in-game balance, but will also encourage RMT (real money trading) activities. We will continue to take strict actions against those individuals that we have confirmed to have used such tools.

Please note that some of these third-party tools may cause character information to be altered, erased, or personal information to be leaked to unwanted third parties. If you come across a third-party tool over the Internet, we ask that you please refrain from the download of such a tool, no matter how minor it may appear to be.

If contacting the Information Center in regards to this action, please be aware that the PlayOnline Information Center is unable to discuss, reverse or overturn decisions made by the Account Admin. The PlayOnline Information Center will only be able to discuss the length of time a suspension will last after proper account verification.

To ensure our customers could enjoy the game safely, we will continue to apply measurements to combat these third-party tools and violations.

We thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this matter.

Well when windower still worked yesterday after the update I knew something was up... there has never been a update when they don't patch the windower so we have to go another step farther to use it.... plus Xbox live was down so I just got on my ps2 to chat with my friends yesterday on my cpu

also just to make notice, this is not suspension, this is banning (For Good) so if you got hit by this then you won't be back on the same char >.>;

Before the windower debate begins...
It still says they are banning people for abnormal in-game movement, not windower. Maybe I haven't read enough, but I still have never heard anyone say they were just banned because of using windower. (if people have been, then sorry, I was unaware that was going on)

Also, are people still using movement hacks after all the bannings that have happened? I LOL at those people.

I've heard of a few people getting suspended for two boxing on the same computer, but never banned for actual use of windower.
Though I did have a friend who was banned in the last go around a few weeks ago because he was paying for one of his friend's accounts, and she would hack, two box, etc.

Hopefully we'll see some more of these people get killed off soon...just gotta wait and see for now though.

Every time they do this, people start talking about Windower. Except that they don't say they are banning for Windower, but for movement hacks. So you know, don't worry about it if you're not movement hacking.

Personally I don't think SE will ban windower users. A large amount of the NA playerbase use them, and in the end the windower in and of it's self(without plugins) doesn't do anything *too* bad. Maybe this 'chime with a tell' thing they added, which used to be accomplished through a 3rd party program, is a sign of things to come in that SE might reconsider adding some useful, but non game breaking aspects of some of the more used 3rd pt programs.

Though it's always nice to see SE crack down on the real cheaters, and since this has been a monthly occurance one can only assume this type of thing will continue to occur.
