Re: The 6th Vana'diel Census

looks like they didn't screw up the names, just put Polearm and Scythe in the wrong section. I'm assuming the name-># is correct, just the categories got switched.

That's what really pissed me off about CoP, I don't care about the Ring or Sea, what really bothered me was I'm still unable to see what was next in the storyline.

Heck even Dynamis storyline (although fairly short) is easier to see than CoP!!

(Oh and yep I'm still stucked in chapter 5, only Snoll fight left to do. )

Edit> I wonder when will they stop considering level 1 characters in the census, at least for log in time, they are all mules.

So you want to read a book or watch a movie instead of playing a game?

In my case not that much, XI has had something like 3 different lvls of dificulty to see the story.

From easiest to hardest.

1 Aht Urgan : Just a lot of running around

2 Zilart/Nation missions : Good combo of running around and battles, some easier than others.

3 CoP : Every freaking step of the road is filled with battles, difficulty ranges from normal to "wtf were they thinking".

If they take the Zilart aproach I'll be happy, but I don't see anything wrong in just running around to see the story unfold.

If you want battles and acomplishment then Assault has a lot of rewards for you and some assault can be very demanding, not to mention the they will add more for sure (with the potential of including really tough CoP kinda battles).

Besides the need to brag, what's wrong with everyone being able to see the story?

dunno about you, but half the attraction of things like this, to me at least is that the story comes as a kind of reward for having beaten somethingor achived something tricky. just following a plot around would feel just like that, following. But for the plot to be interactive and feel like you are the one saving the world, (again ) then it need you to actually do something.

This is good news, this only means that our community is strong and that we will most likely see the game running for more years ahead

Agreed, that's why I really enjoyed Rank missions and Zilart, they were a nice combo of story and battles.

What I was referring to was that part Fyattt said "so not anyone could pass through TOA".

Re: The 6th Vana'diel Census

eh, I like the fights, but I like the story a lot more. I mean, ZM. I remember the adventure, through the Temple of Uglypih, around the world, through the Quicksand Caves...

I remember ZM4, and ZM6, but I remember the cutscenes and events afterwards ten times better. I remember ZM8 and 10, but the feeling knowing I was close to sky was so much greater.

While i'm not meaning that there should be no challenge, things with high death rates and long crawls only serve to drive people away from them, and helping again. Hell, myself I refuse to help on Promyvion, not because I don't want to help, but because I just hate that place so much.

I like things that are challenging, but not a total PITA... like NPCs, especially the final battle with Vassago. Hard, but soloable, and not a total PITA.

It's not that strange. It is one of the most useful subjobs and one that probably everyone should have leveled to 37.

Re: The 6th Vana'diel Census

Census was pretty neat with the auction house data. Just the other day I was wondering out loud to my LS what the most common item on AH was. One thing I really miss from last census though....

There's absolutly NO crafting data available in this census. WTF!?

Er, do you really blame us for that? I mean, lots of really annoying/immature players are making it to the 65+ range by forming their own groups on the way up. The kind of people who think they can badger you into joining their group. It's getting to the point where I don't log on to WHM, SMN, or BLM anymore w/o anon up unless I'm absolutely prepared to play for at least 3 hours. I don't make it to the AH with out a half dozen tells, most of which don't take "no" for an answer. Blacklist is seeing way more usage than I'd like.

Yeah, census is not really surprising me. I see a lot more action on the SMN LS these days, so seeing us break the top 15 isn't such a shock. I don't see a lot of people abandoning SMN as early these days, since we seem to have gotten the word out about how hard this job is if you don't main heal, and more people seem determined to stick it out.

Re: The 6th Vana'diel Census

Poor Tavnazian flag didn't even get to appear in the logo for the Vana'diel Census. It didn't make rankings as a city people set HP. Perhaps that sends a message about how a majority prefer their content. With having a city be strategically placed near good zones, easy to access, with relatively easy method of travel, etc and so forth. One more mark about how CoP is such a pain.

It was good that they included some rankings about the relic gear, but they should have extended it out to show tier 1,2, and 3 to help illustrate to the community in general how much it sucks to raise a relic, it's certainly no walk in the park.

Additionally, the lvl spread makes sense. The % of ppl at 70-75 is higher than the 20 lvl spread of 50-70, which clearly explains how exping sucks when you hit that part of the grind. Your exp party pool shrinks dramatically, bottle-necking until you can exp with 70+.

The HP of Sandora is really interesting, helps to show how Sandy is still the most active business city of the 3 starting cities. "If you can't find it in Jueno, check Sandy" What would be an interesting statistic to add next year is, which zone has the most people with bazaars up for most of the time. It would show how some worlds have created their own "black market" in Batallia or Rolanberry to avoid AH and bazaar taxation.

Some pretty neat info in all.
