The Feast of Swords is Back! (04/25/2006)

Vana'diel is preparing once again for the Feast of Swords! The moogles are busily buzzing around as this Far Eastern celebration of boys' healthy growth draws nearer, but all the excitement seems to be due to yet another harrowing setback...

And so, the moogles are once again asking for help from the "courageous, illustrious, and awe-inspiring adventurers of Vana'diel" (in their own pleading words). Will you answer their call?

Hope they'll give out another new item this year, but I doubt that'll happen. Either way, I still got my hardwood katanna so I ain't complainin.

Well don't think they added anything new to the Doll Festival and the Festival of Swords is like the boys version of the Doll Festival so kind of have doubts they will add anything.

Well for me this is "nice." I was in the middle of my hiatus last year when they did this. So I can get my Stick, and use it just for show off with my SAM. I don't mess with these events for the most part, but I'll actually do this one.

I just unlocked SAM last night.. perfect timing! I like the look of elvaan with great katana so much I gave one to my NPC too ^^

Last year, I found the fastest way to guarantee you will obtain a hardwood katana is to main job Monk actually. Since these dudes run away from you after only a few rounds, to land the most hits with a two-handed weapon, you need to use Hundred Fists on them. If your Monk is at least level 7, they should have enough HP to be able to survive a duel with the mobs, might want to be around level 10 if a Tarutaru however. Both Rare/Ex Great Katanas appear to have permanent en-light on them. I actually skilled up Great Katana on Ninja with this weapon at low levels, before unlocking and leveling Samurai on my second character.
