Hey all!! How is everyone this fine Monday morning? How is everyone's summer coming along? Mine is going great, because I just bought FFXI yay me! Anyway, I am a little confused on what starter job,race,name, and nation I should start in. I really really suck at names, and I really don't like the ones that the name generator uses. So, I was wandering what should the name be? I am male, I am always hyper, I love to eat, play games, hang out with friends etc. The reason I just told you that is because, maybe it will help you pick a name for me. Also, if you guys like know of any sites that have cool names please list!


This is also my first MMO, so I am a little confused as in what "jobs" really are. I have read about them threw this site and others. But I still cant find anything, that feels good to me. Maybe, I just have to try them all or something, I dont know. But, what I do know is that I love to battle with magic + weapon's if that like makes any difference or sense. I have also read that Tarutaru's are very good magic users, however I think they are to short for me. I am tall in real life, so for me to be short would feel awkward, but I love to date short guys.

Ok, well I am going to stop talking you're guys ears off, and let you go, but if any of you on here can help me I would really apreceate it! :D

Names are personal, you need to choose for yourself... a name is what others will identify you from, so choose something you like, the same way you chose a name to use on this forum... :D

Jobs in MMOs are what define your playstyle and what role you will play on the game, keep in mind that in FFXI you can change your Job anytime you want. You can always try all the jobs and see what fits you best or just go with something you seem a little more inclined to.

Do you like swords and the heat of battle? Choose a Warrior.
... or do you prefer hand-to-hand fighting? That's Monk.
Do you like technique over brawn? go Thief.
Do you prefer to use magic to defeat your oponents? Go Black Mage.
... not so much into killing? Go White Mage.
Want to help out in battles indirectly but surely? Choose Red Mage.



Get to know the game first by trial and error, then ask any questions you like!

You might want to check the famous FFXI Wiki at FFXIclopedia for other matters, a lot of information in there.

I think LubbyDubby would work as a Taru name.

Bahamut is a great server, i've tried Odin and Phoenix previously but never stayed on them for so long.

If you really can't think of an original name then you could palm over some literature and pick out the name of some random character.

Just don't do a name like Xxcloudxx, Xxsephirothxx, or any other variation that might come to your mind of a well known FF character or anything FF related. Be original or go use a name generator:
