I'm new ;) - Final Fantasy XI :: Dreams in Vana'diel :: Community

Hello everyone! I just recently started playing FFXIonline. My character is a Mithra and my gamename is Slayerneko. I'm only level 5 and my job is a theif. I won't on for awhile though because I'm at a camp. I'll get back to playing on Friday though (thank god...). I got FFXI + 3 expansion packs for only $20! It was all NEW too! I'm still trying to figure stuff out right now though...someone started helping me (his gamename is Shadowknight I think), he already gave me a linkshell and he showed me the auction, my own house (which is awesome btw), how to fight, and some other things. I'm just mad that I bought the game the day before I had to leave for camp...If anyone has any tips then feel free to tell me anything. I could really use help with the auction and how it works...I really need new armor and weapons. Also I play on the Odin server if anyone wants to find me. I don't remember the name of the place I live in but I think it's called Winddale? Something with Wind in it I think...I'm new to this but I think the place is run by other Mithra's unless that's just what it looks like for whatever character you choose. Also if there is a skill chart or something that tells what skills there are for each job and what level you have to be to obtain them then please show me where it's at. Thank you!

yeah, i don't think anyone believes mithra players are anything but males

Well...so far the only place I know of where to buy things is at is the auction house. Is there like a general store or something so I can buy potions?

the AH will be, most of the time, cheaper than NPCs. keyword being most, it's not all the time and the frugal player will check both sources.

tip: potions are wicked expensive, in stores and AH. you generally don't need them unless you are doing something really crazy.

yeah hi-potions run anyware from 1000-3000 gil at the AH and 1000 gil at the NPC and Potions are like 800 gil or somthing...I think..the way you heal is by typing /heal or there is a botton comand for got what it is though. You MP and HP regen after awhile. (specail items help you regen or refresh faster, and so do some weapons or armor.)

if you have your keyboard setup in WASD mode, then rest/healing is the 'h' key. HP and MP don't regen unless you rest.

Mines setup as the num-pad layout...I dont mind though. And yea the * is the shortcut key for healing for me. I just really need to get some more money so I can buy stuff. And I need to figure out how the AH works...I mean like how long it takes to sell something or how much you should sell something. So far I know to sell earth crystals in 12's for 600gil. Or thats what that one guy told me...

before you sell somthing you should ALWAYS look up the price of what you are trying to sell. (so u can get a idea of what people are paying for it.) Also, "it" might not sell, it might sell but I cant say how long, its always different.

they have the new players guid there, they tell u how to work the AH and stuff, if the link is wrong can someone please fix it? lol...
