Usually you'll solo for the first ten levels, run around town and if you're brave, you can ask people questions to things you dont understand to meet people in town. You usually start making friends once you hit lvl 10-12 and start forming parties to fight harder monsters for exp, if you get into a nice party then it works out pretty well^^
