Old player wanting to come back but in need of help - Final Fantasy XI :: Dreams in Vana'diel :: Community

I used to play FFXI two years ago but stopped playing for awhile. Now two years later I’m wanting to come back and play again but after uninstalling everything and forgetting my playonline Member ID, member password, and playonline ID I am unable to log in to create a new ID or use my old registration codes.

Any sudgestions on what to do?

if you really want to get your character back call Square Customer service and see what they can do.

Yeah shortly after posting I found there little QA thing that talks about it. Basicly after 3 months they wipe you clean and you have to go out and buy another game...so yeah

Wow that sucks.. I thought they just wiped you characters, your registration codes should still be in your name, it's not like.. you "un-bought" it lol (s'cuse the bad english)

that's just a crappy way for them to make a tiny bit more money for themselves.. *grabs axe* let's go Gami and pay SE a visit.

They don't delete your characters. They simply move them into a condensed database where they may or may not decide to restore them for you. Usually character restoration occurs during the semi-annual Return to Vana'diel programs.

Did you cancel your content ID's or did you cancel your POL account?
Or did you cancel anything at all? I doubt you've been paying this whole time, right? Regardless, call POL and see what they can tell you. If you still have your credit card number and stuff, then they should be able to tell you what's going on and what they can do to help the situation (assuming they're willing to help at all.)

After doing what I should have done I called up there customer servace and got it taken care of. As someone said they dont delelte anything but the content ID I think after unsubscribing. IN other words you DONT have to buy a new game. I'm thinking thats just a way to make people not want to unsubscibe or trick em into makeing an easy 20 bucks.

Sad but effective it seems. Anyway thanks for the help guys!

How exactly did you deal with customer support? Im running into the same problem and there not helping me at all. Also what sort of info did you use? I have my old POL ID and all from beta that I used in retail but they said its gone after a year. tell me everything you can so I can get this crap straightened out without having to buy the game again
