Just wondering what the best way to make some cash in the early stages of the game.

Don't discard anything.

Use Final Fantasy XI Auction House - FFXIAH.com to get an idea of how much things sell for(this is based on the Jeuno/Whitegate AH so prices will vary in starter towns), anything that doesn't sell on the AH for reasonable cash(usually anything under 500-1k I don't bother with) sell to an NPC vendor.

You'll make a surprising amount just from unloading all of the crystals and random junk that you get from leveling outside of starter zones.

Figure out which crystals sell for the most, and level where they drop. You can go from level four or five to twelve in Ghelsba if you're good.

I should add, that, which crystals are selling for the most is dependent on supply and demand, which is dependent on what guilds are present in that starter city. All the crystals can be found on different monsters in the areas outside the starter cities, but you'll find the Beastmen that permeate the region will the easiest to farm crystals from.

yea when i first started the game i found that farming crystals and beehive chips were pretty much the easiest way to make gil early on. i do suggest to get ur thief up to 15+ for Treasure hunter 1...helps out alot

I'd like to add something to the crystal thing. Make sure you have a signet on and they are of easy prey+ levels. Usually water crystal prices (On my server) are out rageous from a RMT scam thing that happened for like 3 months, and people kept with the prices. They did drop some.

Usually try to keep getting stacks of items and sell them on the AH.

Things like Skins do not stack, but still sell for a decent amount. Sell it on the AH. It still something. Sheep skin goes for 100 gil (sells for 26 to vender) so you can make a lot of money from just sheep skin over time. Just check the vender price first as a few items sell more to the vender. Or, you can craft sheep skin into sheep leather (Low craft level), and you can make some decent money off that in lower lvls.

No shit? On Fairy, prices were back to normal in like two weeks. (but really only water crystal prices, and to a lesser extent lightning were affected by the RMT) The crystal farmers on your server must suck. Send a BLM out to Pashhow and throw some Thunder III on that shit.

But yeah, at low levels, spamming crystals is a good start, and if your home is in Windurst, farm the bees and crawlers. Not only do you get silk from the crawlers, but there's an easy quest where you can turn in three calculi for 600 gil.

Yesterday the crystals where going for nearly 3k... They dropped to 500 gil /stack when I went to sell mine... >.<
