I just bought a copy of Final Fantasy XI Vana'Diel Collection 2008 for PS2, but the registration code has already been used. If I were to buy a new copy of the Xbox 360 or PC version, would I be able to use the registration code from one of those on my PS2 version? I can't play on Xbox 360 or PC, but I also can't find another copy of the PS2 version at a reasonable price. Any help would be appreciated.

So you bought a used copy of a MMO? Tsk tsk.

AFAIK, only one reg. code comes with the Collection, but it should be universal, in that it can be used to register any FFXI across any console. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the reply, Ameroth. I assumed I could just buy another registration code, but it seems that's not the case. The PS2 version seems to be pretty difficult to find sealed, so I risked buying an open one when I saw it (I could always return it anyway). since I would not be able to return a sealed copy of the game if I opened it, I thought I'd check before buying a PC or Xbox 360 one.

Could anyone else confirm that the codes are universal?

you are correct, the same code can be used for any system.

As meSchnitzel is correct. I've purchased PS2 copies and used the code on my PC. I've purchased a PC copy and used the code on my PS2. My son has used a PC code on his 360. So yes, you can buy a copy of any kind and use the code for your PS2.

if I buy a copy of the collection and it has a used registration code does the new code HAVE to be from another copy of the collection? or could I use a fresh reg from the original FFXI and use the collection disk as just an expansion? (i'm on ps2 btw)

no you need one of two things...

the new reg code that works to unlock everything with one code

or...

buy the codes separately from POL itself


would be best to get buy a new copy of the 08 collection.
