Yeah dude on Alla posted this theory back in may/june 08 and someone from BG came along and started blasting fools like it was a shitty light gun coin-op.

Was never stated if anyone tried it, or has gotten the Torque/weapons/jobs/races to line up. But I'll go ahead and make the positive statment:

The need to clarify is overwhelming.

The weapons themselves need not be used, according to the theory, but only the torques. However, it apparently has to be the torque that matches the virtue weapon that you can wield. Thus, all the odd combinations: a RNG doesn't need to use the Temperance Axe that's worthless to him: in theory, he could use a Maneater, an Archer's Knife, a Fire Staff, whatever, so long as he has the Temperance Torque that is otherwise even more worthless to him.

The beauty of this is, of course, people who have multiple jobs leveled and just torques lying around that are seemingly useless on certain jobs but exceptional on others. We have quite a few Maat's cap players who could be useful on an "off-torque" job just to try this out.

Unfortunately, I doubt we will. /sigh.

I understood it the first time. The Virtue weapons point to the jobs that should be equipping the torques, even if the jobs dont exactly match up with them optimally. Thus the weapons had a purpose and use - they were the hint if this existing theory holds.

The torques could be considered what "bound" the virtue while the sin or "jailer" in this case kept it locked down during the fight. With AV being the embodiment of all virtue, to weaken him, you lock away his two hours with your job becoming the sin by "locking" away the virtue when you put on the torque and respond to his two hours with the corresponding job.

When I referenced Temperance Axe, I was simply pointing out it made no sense for RNG, so its meaning had to be something else. BST and RNG get it, WAR don't. We were looking at utility more than we were looking at the weapons as a hint.
