Carbuncle Prime
I don't need this right away but I just wanted to ask: Has anyone come up with a stragity for this fight that does not involve a whole mess of Summoners? I can't seem to find any that aren't like that and the only video I've seen is a huge lot of Summoners carby bombing prime.

Eventually I want to haul my friends to this fight for the chalange of it but I wanted a few more triditonal BCMN party setups if they exist...

Re: Carbuncle Prime
It can be done for sure, like all the other avatar BCs. It'll just be more difficult and require actual strategy as opposed to the cheapshit method used on Diabolos >_>

<----- Can I have it?

Re: Carbuncle Prime
I have to giggle a little bit at this. There aren't a whole lot of jobs out there with a rise to the top that sucks nearly as bad as SMNs, immediately followed by that nice payoff of 75k per day just doing avatar battles solo or in groups. It's an avatar, you're intruding on our home turf there. I guess that's why I find it funny.

But that's irrelevant to your question. Basically, you need 3 groups, and they don't need to be full groups. You want each group to be able to pull off and tank a single avatar. Ideally, you'd also want each group to have some type of resistance granting individual. I'd recommend BRDs for this, since light carol fills the Carbuncle AE bill. What you'll be tasked with doing is taking down one carby, followed by one avatar, then two carbies, followed by two avatars, then 3 remaining avatars and finally 3 carbies. By having 3 groups, you'll split the avatars up some. Each group could focus on one avatar, or you could use kiters from each group to keep mobs away from you while you deal with the main target. They're also avatars, meaning that magic damage will inflict more pain that melee.

Now, complicating matters is this: Avatars use astral flows for their respective elements based on a 1 minute timer from the point they popped. They also Astral flow whenever another avatar is defeated. As you can see, splitting them up so you're not all in range of 2 or more astral flows is ideal. Also, Carbuncle Prime hits like a normal 85th level mob, his astral flow scales about the same. So, the weak little blasts you're expecting are amplified to very decent to very scary levels.

I'm guessing you can probably figure out a workable strategy from this explanation. My advice would be to pick one person with a reliable clock or timepiece to pay attention to timing the astral flows. Have that person call out when there are about 10 seconds left before the blast goes off. This allows people to move out of the way if they're already low hp. It also warns the WHM to land a Cure V on the tank soon. Pick someone who isn't needed for healing or support, DDs are ideal. Also, make sure your groups know to warn people when they're about to kill an avatar. You don't want a surprise blast when everyone's in red.
