Sorry if this is in the wrong area.

Ok here is the story. I have just turned level 40 and already i have been shouted at for not having a brown belt. Seeing as the belt is 700k+ on Caitsith i decided to quest it. First by getting the Dodo skin of the Deadly dodo.

Camped the spawn area for deadly dodo for 3-4 hours by killing the placeholders. Just about to give up when i see a deadly dodo chewing on my back so i decide to try and take it. I call my NPC buddy and 2h its ass. Took its HP to half then i was eating dirt.

While in jeuno i try ask some people for help. One 70 BLM agreas to help and of we go, but as we get there a lvl 59 THF i asked has already claimed it for "The hell of it" and laghed at me as it hit the floor. So i was a little pissed, but not to botherd.

Day two!

This time i had a 73 SAM/THF helping me out. After about 3 hours i see a 75 MNK and a 75 BRD turn up. MNK already had black belt so i dont see why he wanted the item, only for gil. Another 30mins and we get a spawn. I go to run up to it and i get agroed by the damn goblins so i let my mate try take it. As he gets there the 75 MNK who was "AFK" takes it, after me and my mate have done all the hard work killing the placeholders.

After this i just logged and tried to not let my anger out onto my computer.

As i see it i should have got that NM as the 75 MNK didnt do a thing to get the NM.
Please let me know if im being unreasonable.

You're being unreasonable. Other people have every right to camp against you for things, for whatever reason. There isn't a "If you already have this item, you can't camp it" rule. Or a "If you're just killing this thing for the drop to sell you can't camp it" rule. Is it kind of dickish if people know you're there for that item, and have done all the PH killing, etc? Maybe. But it's not against the rules, and it's just something that you have to deal with.

Honestly, you might just have better luck raising the money for the belt, or doing the BCNM for the drop that you'd get from DD. But it's your choice in the end.

I dont have anything against people camping against me, but seeing as he was there for under half an hour, and didint kill any placeholders i find its a little unfair that he got the NM when me and my mate made this pop apear.

Walked out toc amp it, found him on the way, called for help. Just as someone came i attackede (turned out they didn't want it). I held it off just long enough for my assistance to arrive. they cured me just as i was about to fall.

I wasn;t that lucky, i had insane bad luck getting purple belt, so even having my BB items i had to spend ages camping PB

As harsh as it may sound, everyone has the right to claim any NM even if they have no reason to do so. It's annoying but it's just part of camping a popular NM, you will have competition, you may feel you have need of the drop more but that will not deter people from out claiming you. Just keep trying and you will get it one day.

1. Even if the MNK was only doing it "for gil", he's not much different from you. You're also doing the quest for gil. Specifically, you're doing the quest to save gil, while the MNK is doing the quest to recoup the gil he spent on his Brown Belt. So don't be so hard on him.
2. The MNK may have been there to help the BRD get his Brown Belt.

The monk most likely was there to help the bard. I'm fairly certain that to obtain the black belt quest, you have to complete the prior belt quest.

Killing the place holders, in my opinion, don't give you an edge or right to a particular NM. You don't know how many times they've camped it, or have killed the place holders either. Perhaps they just new the Time of Death of the last pop and came when the widow opened, can't hold them at fault if you killed the place holders. You could of let them kill them, just like they let you kill them.

MNK already completed the quest if he has Black Belt. Can't do Black Belt quest without first completing purple and brown. He was probably there helping the BRD.

Sorry, but you're wrong. It is no more or less fair then if you got the claim. You're only complaining and crying that it's not fair because you didn't get the claim. Had it been you that showed up just as it spawned you'd be here saying how lucky you were.

In his defense he did say it was a rant so theres no reason to blow up at him and tell him he's wrong. If you didn't like what was being said, ignore it, don't post. He said it was a rant, thus you should have pieced it together that he would complain.

I didn't say anything about him being wrong and "Stealing" my pop, i just find it a little unfair that i was there and worked for the pop.

that's just how camping nm's is.

if you cant handle yourself in the area and lose claim for whatever reason. tough shit. it might feel unfair because you think you were cheated but really, when it comes to nms, if you cant claim it when it pops, thats not anyone elses fault but yours.

i've killed place holders for 3 or so hours to have someone walking through the zone stop and kill my nm. it happens to everyone who camps nms, you'll just have to put up with it and be able to be self sufficient. dont kill all the place holders if they arent either. have widescan for spawn areas as big as deadly dodo's. etc etc.

when i was camping dune boots nm, i saw this nm pop before anyone else did because i was logged off in the area and was checking back every hour. when i finally got ppl to come get it about 30 hours later (not many ppl come for him) a group of 4 claim it right before we were about to. they wiped and we took claim. to them, they thought it was unfair since they said theyve tried 4 times to kill this mob in the last 8 hours and said that theyve been watching it for half a day.

well little did they know, ive wiped 3 times in the last day to it and ive been watching it for the past 30 hours. so whos wrong? tough to say but in the end, if you're not capable of pulling it out, then better luck next time.

If you think the dodo is annoying I'd give up now mate. The morbolger drop lies ahead and that will cause you no end of consternation.

I thought it was also a BCNM drop? I could be wrong, but i thought thats hwo i got that piece.

TO the OP. Im shocked that you finally had something like this happen. I thought by this lvl youd have come to terms with this being as common as logging in.

Dont let Mhurron get to you. Their whole camping strat is stand there an spam widescan then use flee when it pops.
