We read up on it and prepared, and decided to go in with our own setup and strategy.
First run(s):
Setup was PLD(me), DRK, and WHM. Our strategy was to have the WHM heal me for the beginning (it attacks fast as hell at first) while I pop sentinel. About 10% hp down and it slows down enough to where I can start landing my own cures. After that the strategy was to DD, heal, and then sleep it when we got low on hp/mp. This was working until it was around 30% hp. It awoke, and I ended up dying, then the DRK, and the WHM managed to kite it until time was up.
After the first try we continued this strategy (trying to make it work) twice more. Getting set for the fourth run our WHM dc'd and never came back. Bummer.
So we called upon a BLM in our LS to come out and help. Strategy was similar to the first one. DRK DD'd, I tanked my ass off, and the blm mainly healed me at first. However, this was the interesting part. Since it was a blm, he had sleep II. Life saver. Using the strategy of DD/tank, sleep, rest, and recycle, we brought it down in seconds before the timer was up. This strategy worked for us another 2 times, each time we did better and better. About 70k gil in drops for everone, but no K club.
Second run(s):
This time we went in with our original PLD, WHM, DRK setup. First run was going very smooth until around 25% hp left when it begins to spam mad TP moves. Drk ended up pulling too much hate (only voke and mp too low) and he died. I followed suit shortly after. Obviously our WHM didn't stand much a chance after that.
Next run we went in with the same strategy, except we came up with the genius idea to have the our DRK use sleep II instead of WHM's elemental seal+sleep. With the mixed use of yagudo drinks and an x-potion, we got it down to under 30-40% hp before our DRK slept it. Rested and I voked when it woke. Our next step was for the WHM to 2hr when all of our HP got low, and I would 2hr directly after that. This next part is funny. Turns out WHM's 2hr had another 26mins on recast. So I just 2hr'd before I died and we went from there. Going good, going good; then one of his TP moves went thru invincible and killed me. DRK slept it and they rested. Soon as it got up, the DRK landed a huge drain, and the WHM cure IV'd him. From there it was all in the bag. DRK killed him shortly after and victory was ours. Got a raise III outside and lotted. Made a few thousand more gil but still no K club.
In the end we've decided to continue with future attempts on this BC. The DRK, PLD, BLM setup worked all too well, and the DRK, PLD, WHM setup took a little work, but it was all worth it. We had loads of fun and managed to create our own successful strategy and setup.
Anyone had any experiences with this BC? Wins, losses, rewards? Advice? Bashings? Flames? Congrats? I'm just kinda pumped up from all the excitement and wanted to post about it. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 07-17-2007, 07:27 AM | #2 (permalink) | | FFXIWiki'er FFXIWiki Team Join Date: Sep 2006 Posts: 1,572 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 102 Thanked 39x in 30 Posts Gil: 28,403 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 28,403 Donate | Re: Up in Arms Congrats!!
Acvtually my LS just got a sweet deal on this BC, with our strat. Takes down Fee in around 10-15mins, no 2hrs, blah blah.
RNG/NIN RNG/NIN RDM/BLM
1. Go in.
2. Rdm SS, Pro/shell everyone singally, Refresh, all the usual shit.
3. RNG's both use JA SharpShot and Barrage
4. RDM Gravity, RNG's let loose
5. RNG with hate kites, and vice versa when other RNG takes hate.
6. RDM alternates Bind and Gravity to keep Fee from eating RNG's, with Sleep I/II as emergency and also Shadowbind x 2. So a very safe setup.
Did this 3 times, 3/3, first time doing this BC for all of us. Drops were really meh. Prob around ~20k mark for all 3.
But we have got this strat down to a T now, not a lot can really go wrong.

When I went as whm we had a similar setup to yours (WHM, PLD, RNG). Lost once, won 2 times that way. Yag drinks are needed for the whm and pld to help with mp issues. If you can replace the whm with a rdm it will go a lot smoother.
The last 30 or so times I've done it I go BLM BLM RDM and it's super easy. Sometimes I trio-box all of them, but sometimes I'm just controling a blm and the rdm. Pretty simple strat, 2 blm open with a Burst > Rdm sleep > 2 blm Freeze > sleep > then we start to alternate whos nuking. Never lost this way and he's down soon after.
But drop rate sucks. I've done this BC about 40+ times total and have yet to see a K club. That damn thing has become my white whale. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 07-17-2007, 09:29 AM | #4 (permalink) | | Lightness Keeper of Knowledge Join Date: Apr 2004 Posts: 2,401 Style: Light - Version 4 My Mood: Thanks: 94 Thanked 131x in 79 Posts Gil: 12,638 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 12,638 Donate | Re: Up in Arms ive done this with 3 bsts, as rdm/blm+rng+rng and with rdm/blm+rng+blm.
