lottery spawned vs place holder spawned nm
I understand what a lottery spawned nm means but are there any nm's that are both lottery spawned and place holder spawned(meaning only 1 specific mob of a specific mob type will spawn the nm). I ask this because a buddy of mine was getting upset hunting leaping lizzy because he said the other players hunting him were killing the wrong mob(which would delay him from spawning). The guide I have on Leaping Lizzy(from somepage.com) only says that Leaping Lizzy is a lottery spawn(which would indicate any of the lizards in the area should potentially spawn him), but he said that Leaping Lizzy had a place holder as the spawn mob.

My question is can I assume that if the guide says a nm is a lottery spawn from a mob, that any of that type of mob in the area(grid pos) will spawn it(or are there some nm's that only have 1 specific mob in 1 specific place only, that will spawn it)?

u have to know when to hold them, know when to fold them

Re: lottery spawned vs place holder spawned nm
Killing mobs that are not the placeholder for the NM have no effect on the spawn time of a lottery spawned NM. The only way to make it spawn slower is to let the placeholder live.

Probably all lottery spawn type NMs have only one mob that's the "real" placeholder and the other mobs are just decoys, but the only way to tell them apart for sure (and identify the correct one) is to look at a wide scan list while the NM and all its placeholders are simultaneously up.

Here's what ffxiclopedia has to say about identifying Leaping Lizzy's placeholder:
Quote:
When using Widescan, look for the three groups of five lizards in the area. First list is centralized East of the large pillar, second group is West, and third group is Northwest. Leaping Lizzy's placeholder is the fifth lizard in both of the first two groups. After killing Leaping Lizzy in one area she may be the next pop in the other area.
