Re: BCNM Sky Orb lvl 30 <Do You Need It?>
I did this BCNM with a couple of LS mates last night and I thought I would post how we did. The set up was RDM/BLM to Kite, WAR/MNK(me) to Tank, and RDM/NIN to heal/enfeeb/nuke. We went 2/3 and didn't get any good drops. =P Mages had ethers and Yag Drinks, I had Au Laits and hi-pots. The kiter ate Gob Chocolate for the Lizard Killer effect, the other RDM ate a pie for more MP, and I had a Bison Steak (Lizard Killer and atk food).

A few tips: WARs - go Great Axe over Axe. Misses hurt more, but the Weapon Skills are so much better it more than makes up for it. I pulled of a 322 Sturmwind! I also used Acid/Bloody bolts and I think it helped out a great deal. Most people will tell you that you have to be /NIN as a Tank in this, but I am proof you do not. You just have to be well prepared as I was with Au Laits and some Hi-pots and the Bloody Bolts.

How often did the Lizzard Killer effect kick in?

My guess is that it is similar to how they keep alive in the mini avatar fights. Set the avatar to melee the mob(s) and run as far away as possible. When the avatar dies, resummon. The mobs should have to run quite a distance, so the SMN can get the avatar back up.

It varied with each battle, but it was noticable. The steak was expensive, but 10k is a small investment for a chance at Leaping Boots and Utsusemi: Ni.
