Are they able to solo at all at high lvls? And if no is there a better combo able to solo?

As i can see yeah you can hit strong and dodge attack and when thigs get to heavy you can heal with either the monk Chakara or the white mage Ability.

Note: you get Chakara on lv. 35

I prefer to group but sometimes I can only play for a limited amount of time so want to be able to have a feeling of getting something done.

They can probably solo better when a MNK with a different subjob.. but not much. You still wont be able to solo into the higher levels efficiently. In addition you'll also be alot less effective in PT's. Its not worth it
