Hi all

Two questions here really. The 1st is how do i get a purple belt? and the 2nd is what is the difference between haste+ (what you get from the belt) and agility? I ask the 2nd question as i thought they were the same thing really.

You acquire the Purple Belt either via this quest:

Silence of the Rams - FFXIclopedia, the Final Fantasy XI wiki - Characters, items, jobs, and more

Or by purchasing it on the AH.

As for Haste (attack speed) and AGI (affects evasion), they are entirely unrelated, but here is some info on Haste:

Haste affects your delay while TPing. The more haste you have, the less delay there is between swings. It also affects recast timers for spells.

Agility on the other hand affects ranged accuracy and evasion.

Its easier to just buy it on teh AH in jeuno when you get there. Cost me 7k for my monk on Hades. its essential as it speeds up attack and the +str helps imensly as well. read any monk guide and its essential to have between 18-40 when you move onto brownbelt for higher stats

But you have to have that quest completed to do brown and black belt I thought?? Can anyone confirm this wiki is blocked on the terminal I am at now.

The wiki doesn;t specifically say you must do teh previous quest but you probably do, the thing is before you hit 40 you can get the quest items easily as you will have no trouble defeating the 2 NM's. to get the brown belt pieces you need to in reality have a party or be a good lvl 50+ if soloing.

That is 60k ont eh AH and considering you can make that easily these days in less than a week, a worth investment rather than questing it.

True so i guess you coul buy it and level it and then we get up to black belt range do the quests and then sell them and get your black belts. Doing it this way you technical can save your belts for BCNMS and LvL cap events. I really don't do this as much as a I should only with armor since i throw them in storage npc.

Black Belt quest requires that you turn in your brown belt. I think brown may require the purple belt but I'm not sure.

Yes, the belt quests all require you to turn in one of the previous belts (and said quests). So you can buy your belts now if you want, but if you want a black belt, you are going to have to still do the purple and brown belt quests later.
