I had an xp party on MNK/WHM once, actually. I was part of a party that had been organized to help some friends leveling SCH shortly after WotG came out. We were fighting in Tahrongi Canyon and I was on MNK/WAR, but the targets weren't working out well and a bunch of people ended up leaving. We had 3 SCHs at this point and they talked about going after worms in Shakrami. I came along, but frankly MNK/WAR was more hinderance than help in that situation and I didn't want to just leech XP; I didn't have any other jobs in range to bring, so I switch to MNK/WHM and started doing the nuke-and-run-out-of-range strategy the SCHs were following using subbed Banish. It wasn't a huge contribution but it worked out a lot better than melee did, and we were getting capped xp (200/kill) from the worms anyway. Generally speaking, though, /WHM is limited mostly by the lack of a MP pool on the main job. It's one of the reasons I never cared that much for using THF/WHM even before DNC came out. DRK/WHM on the other hand is quite awesome. ![]() Most xp parties will be 6-man setups that call for people to specialize and maximize their specialty, though, which is why you'll tend to see a lot of resistance to things that give more breadth to your job rather than things that maximize what your job already does normally. MNK/WHM or MNK/DNC is going to mostly be more handy in small parties where you have no choice but combine roles. I'll note that there's a whole slew of subjob choices that can be quite useful for small parties, but they are all situational in that you'd want to coordinate with other party members on it. I'm usually the one who brings oddball stuff like /BRD or /COR to small parties, but it is important to know no one else is bringing the same sub in those cases (or bringing it as a main). Technically they're often useful for large parties too, if certain conditions are met, but the organizing standards present in large parties tend to make ensuring those conditions actually are the case rather difficult.
