Here are some good combos I've found: mind you, some of these abilities listed won't come until higher levels
*MNK/WAR = taunt, berserk, extra STR, Double Attack
*MNK/THF = backstab, extra DEX, Treasure Hunter
MNK/WHM = healing, Dia, Protes
MNK/NIN = 1H Blunt x 2 (not that this is a bonus...just kinda novel) , extra Dex, resist bind

thats what I'm PLANNING on being but I may be a MNK/Thief or whitemage instead You can kill the revolutionary, but you can't kill the revolution.......... | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 05-06-2003, 12:56 AM | #4 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: May 2003 Posts: 12 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 239 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 239 Donate | thanks, that really help clear things up for me, i think i will go for monk worrier to get th eextra str and double attack which seem really cool | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 05-16-2003, 03:32 AM | #5 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: May 2003 Posts: 381 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 804 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 804 Donate | Monk/ Ranger ? Would a monk/ ranger be good? I mainly want to be a monk but I would like to shoot a gun from afar. Will the monk's agility (even with ranger sub boost) be good enough to use a gun? "Unless Monks can use guns, then you won't be able to use them."
Are you trying to be funny or are you just brain dead? That was a worthless post that told nothing.
I have some info too:
-Unless warriors can use magic, than they won't be able to use magic.
-Unless white mages can use the jump ability, than white mages won't be able to use the jump ability.
-Unless ninjas can summon monsters, than ninjas won't be able to summon monsters.
-Wow, I never knew I could provide so much important info.
I usually don't flame but I'm starting to get tired of dumb statements on these boards that just waste space like the spam in my e-mail box.
Now can someone please answer my questions for real? I would appreciate it. Thanks. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 05-16-2003, 06:07 PM | #8 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: May 2003 Posts: 12 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 188 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 188 Donate | dk/mnk good combo is dark knight / monk a good combo considering that dark knight needs hp. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 05-17-2003, 03:20 AM | #9 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: May 2003 Posts: 381 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 804 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 804 Donate | Monk/ Samurai? What is everyone's thoughts on Monk/ Samurai?
Hear me out, the samurai lvl 10 innate ability is to build TP more quickly. And you build TP with every attack you make right? Well, I believe high level monks get the most attacks (by level 60, they have the innate ability martial arts 5 times which shortens the attack interval).
Sooo if you combine the monk's high rate attacks with the Samurai's innate ability to gain TP quickly it seems like you would be gaining TP faster than you could be dishing it out.
What do you think? What would be the problems with this combo?
If there are any monk experts out there I'd appreciate the feedback (oh and please answer my monk/ ranger question as well). Thanks. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 05-18-2003, 12:10 AM | #10 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2003 Posts: 28 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 16 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 16 Donate | He was pointing out that you can only use equipment of your main job and not your subjob. Therefore, the monk would need to be able to use a Gun because the whole Ranger bit won't hold over if only subbed (you may have known exactly what he meant, but oh well). From what I hear, Monks can't use guns. Besides, that would be a pointless subjob. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 05-18-2003, 12:38 AM | #11 (permalink) | | - Super Moderator Join Date: Feb 2003 Posts: 3,025 Style: Dark - Version 5 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 8,909 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 8,909 Donate | I think War is best with it you can double attack Blm.75 - Whm.56 - Mnk.58 - Rdm.48 - Nin.37 - War.37 - Drk.37

Well, first of all, I'll be the first to admit that I over reacted and Infamous Joe, I apologize for asking if you were brain dead LOL.
However, in my post I specifically asked if Monks could use bows/guns and the answer was "unless monks can use guns, than you won't be able to use them" SO it really didn't answer my question. But I think I see what you are saying now...
But why do you say it would be a worthless sub job? I think it would be great to be good with range weapons without having to make it your primary job. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 05-18-2003, 05:59 AM | #13 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2003 Posts: 85 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 133 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 133 Donate | I didn't know for sure if monks could use guns, so that's why I said it like that. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 05-18-2003, 08:54 AM | #14 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: May 2003 Posts: 12 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 188 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 188 Donate | dk/mnk good combo
