I have been camping the morbolger for 2-3 days now and he has not yet spawned. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 07-28-2007, 08:12 AM | #3 (permalink) | | Heir to Odin Oracle of Knowledge Join Date: May 2006 Location: None of your damn business Posts: 3,609 Style: Light - Version 5 My Mood: Thanks: 778 Thanked 335x in 235 Posts Gil: 112,982 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 112,982 Donate | Re: Brown Belt Quest The only tip I can give you for him is to sit in Ordelles Caves AFK and hope you catch his death in your chat log window and count the conquest updates (they come by each hour).
So, from the time you go AFK type /clock or write down the time on a piece of paper. Then, when you get back look through the log like I said counting the updates until you find the message saying whomever killed him.
Once you have the approximate ToD, come back about 20 hours later, no later than 20:45. It's a 3-hour pop window so camping him can be a bit tedious especially since there's usually competition.
Since he is a timed spawn, you don't have to kill any place holders. It helps to have a friend who can cast "Flash" or "Stun" since those are the two fastest claim methods in the game.
Your profile says you're lv 40. Get a high level friend for this, because I will tell you right now you don't stand a chance in hell of killing this NM. http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Morbolger (42-44) http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Deadly_Dodo (39-40) http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Nue (Lv 41-42, you might be able to take him)
Hell I had trouble with him on my 66 WAR when I killed him. He attacks extremely fast and has nasty TP moves along with 2800 TP. At your current level he'll techincally be a T or VT to you (NMs are actually subject to the signet update, but you have to know their relative levels) so you won't get the added def and evasion.
Good luck to ya ^^b | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 07-28-2007, 08:25 AM | #4 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: May 2007 Location: UK, Birmingham Posts: 108 Style: Dark - Version 5 My Mood: Thanks: 18 Thanked 1 Time in 1 Post Gil: 9,734 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 9,734 Donate | Re: Brown Belt Quest I was trying to camp the Morbolger with my fiends from my LS. 40 WHM and a 40 SAM. We all had signel perls ready as well just in case. But as he didn't spawn, and we had been waiting all day i decided to go to sleep and try the other 2 instead on the next day. If only the belt wasn't 700k+ i would buy it. *hint hint* | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 07-28-2007, 09:06 AM | #5 (permalink) | | Veteran Member Brain of Knowledge Join Date: Nov 2003 Location: Ann Arbor, MI Posts: 1,644 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 143 Thanked 37x in 30 Posts Gil: 2,596 Bank: 307 Total Gil: 2,903 Donate | Re: Brown Belt Quest I would suggest help much higher than Lv.40. Malboro mobs attack fast, and usually hard. So whoever's tanking is going to take a beating and your WHM will be sweating until they get hate and find them self being "face humped."
After camping Charby last night, the LS has decided that NM camping is the only activity that is both boring as all hell and ridiculously stressful. [font="Comic Sans MS"]Odude

Well im oficialy pissed. Just camped the Deadly dodo for about 2 hours and finaly got a spawn. Tried to kill it and it finished me off. I then shouted for help just near the zone and one person agread to help. But by the time we got there a 59 thf who ran out just as i shouted killed it and then laughed at me. Now i have to wait 2-3 hours before i can try again.
BTW, i dont have any high level friends who would want to wait around untill it spawns and then help me kill it. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 07-28-2007, 01:11 PM | #8 (permalink) | | Veteran Member Brain of Knowledge Join Date: Nov 2003 Location: Ann Arbor, MI Posts: 1,644 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 143 Thanked 37x in 30 Posts Gil: 2,596 Bank: 307 Total Gil: 2,903 Donate | Re: Brown Belt Quest Originally Posted by Vildar | | BTW, i dont have any high level friends who would want to wait around untill it spawns and then help me kill it. | The key to getting help is in the information.
If you go to the LS and say, "Deadly Dodo's spawn window opens in 10 minutes, can anybody Lv.55+ help me kill it for my Brown Belt Quest?" I'd have to say I'd be surprised if nobody Lv.40+ wouldn't come out to help you. You already did the hard work, now you can gather an army for less than an hour to kill something. If you have the Time of Death (ToD) you can usually get somebody to help you kill something. I was fortunate enough to just be wandering through one day and saw him standing there. Cracked him in the head with a 1200 Spinning Slash and collected my Skin. Now I just have to manage to get a Lambert claim so I can finish Purple Belt Quest first. ~sigh~ [font="Comic Sans MS"]Odude

It's a friend LS so we don't have any other members. Usualy there not on as much as me as well. Update
Again im pissed off. I managed to get help from a 73sam/thf. Worked for 3-4 hours killing the placeholders and a 75 MNK goes and takes the pop while i was agroed by a Goblin.
Im sick of this item at the moment. The brown belt best be worth all this hassle. Last edited by Vildar : 07-29-2007 at 08:07 AM. In the extremely rare event that you hit 75 and do whatever ridiculous stuff is needed for the black belt, you can complete the brown belt quest then. But the vast majority of 75 mnks don't even have the black belt so questing it is by no means necessary. In the time it will take to camp those NM's, especially at your level, you could farm the gil for several brown belts. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 01-02-2008, 10:29 AM | #11 (permalink) | | Ares's Cuirass Keeper of Knowledge Join Date: Jan 2003 Posts: 1,990 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 8 Thanked 31x in 25 Posts Gil: 1,494 Bank: 3,166 Total Gil: 4,660 Donate | Re: Brown Belt Quest He probably has it by now.
