Is it a good class to use? I love punching stuff! New character BTW. (I also do Mui Thai and Tae Kwon Do, so I'm naturally addicted to these types of classes. ) I want to be a Tarutaru cuz my friends in real life know I'm tall for a 13 year old, so it'll shock em and I've always wanted to be small. XD So is it a good race/class combo?

I've seen higher level Taru deal as much damage as any other race.
If that's what you want to be, then go for it.
Oh yeah, I think Taru's look pretty kick-ass doing Dragon Kick. :D

it's a fine combo as long as you are willing to work at it. taru's are the weakest race (STR) and as a monk, your damage is directly related to STR. if you are the type to care about pure numbers, then this puts you at a disadvantage. you will need some very good gear (and expensive, but most monk gear is) to stay competitive with the other races.

if you don't care about pure numbers, then learn to play well, gear up well (still can't slack with sub-par gear) and you'll be a fine addition to the party.

MNK don't rely a lot on STR. Tarutaru's won't notice a huge drop in damage, really. Not the best race for the job, but it's also not a very noticable difference. I'd say the benefits of playing a race you like outweighs minor damage boost you'd get from being any other race.

If you like Tarutaru, do it for sure. They're one of the coolest looking classes, and high level taru melee mains usually get a good amount of respect, at least from me. They look cool doing just about any melee weapon skill too, so I'd suggest it fer sure. :D

I was in a meripo earlier with a Taru MNK, Taru WAR, Taru NIN and Taru BLU. And an Elvaan, but he didn't count. We were adorable.

Choose a character you want to look at. Everything else can be fixed with gear food and skills, looks cannot.

you're the 75 MNK so I have to defer to your experience, but how can you say that? STR is in every aspect of MNK. HTH damage is based heavily off STR (more so than other weapons) and all the WS are based off STR.

in general, if you're a stats whore, and you want to be the best MNK possible, go for elvaan. High STR and high MND. But again, stats don't matter THAT much, so unless you're a perfectionist who doesn't care if their character is a snobby longnecked manwhore race, i'd go for whatever race seems most fun, ESPCIALLY since you will most likely try a wide range of jobs.

I say go MNK for the cuteness factor.. I partied with a Tarutaru MNK in Yhoator Jungle a few weeks ago, I just wanted to pick him up and cuddle him. he he..

In all seriousness though Taru MNK are so damned cute. You'll be at a disadvantage, but you can make up for it with proper food, gear and skill if you really care enough, and it sounds like you do.


Side Note: If SE had only let us be male mithra I not have given a flying **** about the Elvaan, but I still think they're neat.
