Actually, I say it because all hand to hand weapon skills are multi-hit. The one MNK spams the most, Asuran fists, has something like a 10% STR modifier. SAM use STR the most in their WS, with a massive 75% modifier (if memory serves me correctly). All physical WS are effected by STR though, to an extent.

In general, adding more accuracy to asuran fists/raging fists will get you more damage than STR, unless you're fighting low level targets or have a ton of accuracy. That's what I've noticed while exping MNK, and others have reached the same conclusion. I'm not one of those people that are good with the math formulas of the game, so I can't back my word up with anything more than personal experience.

Dragon kick relies more on STR though, since it's only two hits (and has a higher modifier). Full swing is another one to stack STR onto, if you're in a situation where you actually have to use a staff and THF sub...

In melee attacks, I didn't notice STR doing a whole lot for me. I used to stack it on, but later switched almost all of my STR gear into accuracy and attack to help my damage. (I always aimed for enough accuracy to be able to use meat, but I only rarely had the gear to pull it off until the 70's.) Hand to hand's base damage is determined by your hand to hand skill. I think it's something like every 10 levels is one more base damage.

Hm... I would've choosed hume since I plan on using 4 classes mainly. (MNK, SAM, NIN, WHM) So yeah, those. Maybe warrior for sub, but I don't want it to be gimp, so that's a lot of work, but I can do it.

Edit: Game comes in the mail 5 days from now. It's sooooo boring to wait! XO

Are you saying that non-WS Hand-to-Hand's base damage is solely calculated from skill (plus weapon's damage modifier), but it not subjected to fSTR modification at all?! I had thought Hand-to-Hand skill only determines the weapon base damage (D) rating.

No, I was saying that base damage on weapons for hand to hand is determined by skill, since we're not punching things with 18 base damage weapons at level 73+. The only wording differences we seem to have is "weapon base damage" vs "base damage". I meant the same thing as you, I just didn't say it right. (I didn't even consider that somebody would think I thought that STR wasn't used at all in melee damage calculations.)

It all makes a certain sense in my mind, I'm just not very good at making others know what I think without rambling on for two pages. >_>

Edit:
I can't really stress it enough; Pick whatever race you like the looks of the best. The differences in melee stats between races aren't that important.

Eh, it's pretty common by now. It just means I don't hate leveling. (I usually enjoy exping, I just don't get to do it often.)

Honestly, if you plan to main those 4 jobs, I would suggest Mithra or Taru. Taru NINs RAWK, Taru SAMs in full AF are so cute it's actually funny, Taru WHM for the OMGMPz. Mithra MNK & NIN are pretty damn awesome, and Mithran WHMs have a pretty stable amount of MP.

There are two Mithran MNKs in my LS who are both pretty awesome. Both of them are fairly wealthy, and have been playing this game a really long time so they know what it takes to really push the job.

If you were going MNK or SAM only, I'd say go Galka. I <3 teh Galka MNKs. Big giant brute with visually huge muscles just bashing something in the head. Galka Kick Attacks are also the funniest thing to see in the game. Stubby legs they can hardly get above their waist. haha

Re: Taru Monk! I punch j00!! >:D
Just pick the one that looks "good" to you ^^b

If you like martial art, I suggest you also check out the fighting stances for different race on NIN, SAM, MNK... For example, Elvaan male stance is right leg front, right hand front. Mithra's Great Katana stance is like holding a baseball bat. Hume male hand-to-hand fighting stance is like Boxing, but without the steppings.

As for damage output and those math stuff, every race can do great, depends on situation, such as gear, what you are fighting, etc.

Hm, I might sub WHM for SMN. How does that work out? I mean SMN as a main.

The race thing dosent matter so much. The only thing your "really" going to notice (or maybe not if you dont really care) is HP compared to other races of monks. Big whoop...

To put it bluntly, race dosent matter (maybe for mages it does but I dont play mage jobs much), play whatever job you want, you'll still kick ass.

Re: Taru Monk! I punch j00!! >:D
The only job that Elvaan will fall a little behind in on that list is NIN due to the low AGI (Evasion) and DEX (Accuracy and Katana WS mods) scores.

Apart from that, you're golden for the other jobs, even WHM (Note: High MND levels means very strong enfeebs. You'll just need more MP gear where as a taru would focus on MND gear). SAM and MNK both benefit from the high STR, and elvaan have high VIT and MND to boost Chi Blast and Chakra.

Pick the race you feel is the most aesthetically (damn that's hard word to spell) pleasing to you, since you'll be staring at it for a good while.
