| Monk vs. Maat... Recommendations?
I have a friend on LS who is a MNK70 and he attempted Maat the other day using the following method which I looked up elsewhere (Alla): 1. Sleeping Potion + Opo-opo Necklace to 300% TP 2. Engage Maat 3. Dragon Kick -> Icarus Wing -> Dragon Kick 4. Counter Hundred Fists with Hundred Fists (Fire with Fire method) 5. Hi-potion Spam to self-heal. He died during Maat's Hundred Fists. I'm assuming he activated Focus and Dodge @ Hundred Fists, but I haven't debriefed him yet... Gear: Arakan Samue Temple AF (except body) Amemet Mantle Purple Belt T.M. Hooks +2 Earrings?? (Probably MNK standard mid-range price or Rare/Ex DD @70) Rings?? (Probably MNK standard mid-range price or Rare/Ex DD @70) Opo-opo Necklace/??? I was hoping to get a bit of advice from some Monks who have done Maat with specific attention to the Counterstance ability, pre-fight nutrition, and essential skills.

From what I read, you use hundred fist right before engage. Something like this Get TP from sleep Run up to Maat Hundred fist Engage WS Wing WS leave the rest to hundred fist

I tried 3 times, second fail was because I did not eat meat. This is a must I'd say as I absolutely wasted him with it. First time I ate meat but just messed up and died. What I did was run in eat meat, sleep to 100% then dodge and focus, use blink band and phalnax shield if you want, I didnt bother. Engage him hitting 100fists just before your first hit, as he wont atk you till you hit him might as well get that long delay between activating hundred fists and its first hit out of the way before fight seens as maat has to wait during fight. Dragon Kick straight off and dont boost as by time ws is finished you will be hitting again with hundred fists instead of a short delay which is bad. Eat icarus and Dragon kick again then just wait. I had about 700 HP left at the end and 80% TP. Someone told me if you ws maat 3 times you win so was getting excited about the 3rd one coming up when he gave up. Hes pretty easy tho as long as you dont mess anything up because once he hundred fists your dead if youve got too little HP or TP.

I found you cant wait till he hundred fists, you have to start it before him so say activate after the first ws, wing ws and viola.

I've heard that Stun Jamhadars are a better bet in this fight since it makes your Hundred Fists much more effective at countering Maat's? Icemage |

Yea if you can get a hold of some they probably would but you really dont need them. If you do it right maat should be dead by 2-3 hit of his hundred fists anyway.

Update: First of all Thank you all for your posts. The method was successful. He had a pair of Stun Jamadhars that I made for him for helping me with a Quest previously, so he used those and said they worked great with Hundred Fists. I took the meat suggestion and the suggestion that 3 Weaponskills would kill Maat and combined them into a reccomendation to eat Carbonara The method: Sleep to 300% [Opo-opo Necklace + Sleeping potion] Engage Maat, launch Hundred Fists as the first punch lands. WS -> Wing -> WS wait... WS Death.

My strategy, that my dear dear friend monk taught me. Food: Carbonara Persikos au lait (my personal choice to use this) Vile elixir Equip: chivalrous chain temple crown scorpion harness+1 (borrowed) temple hose temple gloves temple gaiters Brown belt amemet mantle sun rings x 2 coral earrings x 2 Stun jamadars bibiki seashell Strategy: I forgot to take off my clothes before entering, if that even works anyway. Wear chi blast equip eat both carbonara and persikos sleep to 100 TP boost x 5 engage chi blast from the distance and wait him to come close. raging fists hundred fists raging fists If things get bad, chakra + vile elixir will help you staying alive Useful macro: CTRL: chiblast - DF(dodge focus) - chakra ALT: boost - raging fists chi blast equip: geist earring x 2 promise badge justaucorps chi blast macro: /ja chi blast <t> /wait 1 /equip neck chivalrous chain /equip body scp. harness+1 /equip ear1 coral earring /equip ear2 coral earring raging fists macro: /ws raging fists <t> /wait 2 /ja hundred fists <me> I won at first try thanks to this strategy. 383 hp left, so it's not just strategy, it's also personal skill and cold blood. You actually don't have to kill maat, just reduce his hp to 30% and he will automatically give up. Good luck. |

First off, I'm glad you beat Maat, {Congratulations!} Secondly, Why didn't you sleep to 300% TP and Boost to full? If you're going that route why not push it all the way? Third, why no Icarus Wing? You've obviously got access to a fair bit of cash.

Simple. I did not want to waste the 10 minutes preparing and losing my testimony as it happened the second time... lol. As long as i won, i feel satisfied. Why no icarus wing? No needed, as you could read, i kicked his penis waaay too easily. No need to wasted an icarus wing.
