Mithra Monk - Final Fantasy XI :: Dreams in Vana'diel :: Community

Currently on my alt char, a mithra with monk at 50, i'm wondering what should i be aiming for as my main weapons. Currently I'm using Adargas which pre 50 had both nice delay and dmg output compared to some other monks i've partied with. But noticing that 50 is also the lvl of the imfamous CC and TMH+2 2 levels next, what in your honest opinion should i invest in? On another note. Being a mithra, which has a naturally high dex, should i be more in favor for str gear than acc? Along with mnd gear for chakra and chi blast? Any reply is apprectiated and thank you for your time to read and reply ^^

Heyo, Im currently 65Mnk (mithra of course

) and Ive only been using TMH+1 since 52 and tbh Ive only been outdmged by one war so far and occasionally by a mnk I pted with once who had CC's. The dmg he was doing with the CC's was alot more than mine but I was hitting alot faster but I recon if I had CC's I could do some massive dmg, they are def worth getting imo cause on a ws that extra DMG+4 will do alot. If you can afford them then just go with the TMH+2 for the lower delay than TMH+1. Im going to camp the CC's though cause they really are worth it until 73 I'd say but Ive managed so far, I just want to do and extra 100 or so dmg for the ws.

CC's are awesome at 50, but later on they're not that amazing. I used Spartans til 66 and then bought the super-cheap Feral Fangs, and never regretted it. You can go the El Cheapo route and do TM's > TM+1's > Ferals. CC's would be nice, but really there are better ways to spend your time to improve your monk IMO. Of course if you really want go ahead and get them, at the least they will be nice money when you get higher and decide to sell.

I wouldn't recommend equipping yourself differently based on race. Wear the same stuff as other monks basically, at least 50+ you still need the acc and added str isn't going to do a lot for you unless you have crazy attack, i.e. static with a brd who double minuets you.

hmm, thanks for the interesting tips ^^ Think i will go the "El Cheapo route" until i find my true gil calling, lol.
Currently for my gear is:
Savage Seperates, Savage Gaiters, Adargas, Battle Gloves/Gigas Bracelets, Bastokan Subligar, Puissance Ring x2, Beetle Earring, Beetle Earring +1, Spike Necklace and Nomad's Mantle.

Update time

Currently upgraded to my gear from the last post to; TMH+1, O-Kotes, Temple Gloves(WS), Master's Gi, Savage Seperates(WS) and Republic Subigar.
So far, barely any difference in ws damage is noticed between O-Kotes and Temple Gloves. But i can still out DD a war/nin >.>; not good cause of those Lesser Colibris eat my food and we end almost being on the same dmg par, myself still a bit higher.

@.@; Right now, I'm looking forward to 57 so i can upgrade to SH for DDing & nab my main char's snipers ring

And hopefully get brown sometime soon >.< All the while stock piling for those lvl 75 h2h thats like a synth of drop, and/or Destroyers m=^.^=m

I just checked the price of CC's on FFXIAH.com, and they're about 1.5M on my server. That's not a bad price really. (I've spent much more for a weapon in the past, and I know I'm not the only one. Though I do remember a time when spending 150k for a weapon was expensive. The good old days!)

As for those lunch stealing Colibri.... /angry. Those bastards stole an entire stack of sushi outta my belly one evening. As DRK my WSs sucked (Vorpal Suck 4TW!) but my melee damage was 150~200dmg a hit. I swear every time I Double Attacked I had to pop another plate of Sushi. As annoying as that TP Reset move they have is, I'd much rather have zero TP than lose 30k+ in stolen food.

We all want top gear so we can toss up as much damage as possible, next thing you know we stop using Berserk because we can't stand having out food stolen or our brains bashed in!

Yea, pretty much was the story for me last night @.@; Few times i wish there was a pld tank or we got a thf instead of a drg. Thfs main are always a must in my book, lol. /thf don't cut with

Heh, if i get Destroyers, i'mma go crazy trying to break the latent T.T; Still haven't finished that on Aka's Heart Snatcher and Club of Trails >.<

CC's are 1.5m dayum. Just sold a pair for 3.85m, they seem to be holding a decent price still on Hades while everything else drops. Camped them tho and didnt buy so no money lost either.

Galka MNK in my LS was trying to sell his CCs for quite some time. I think he finally sold them at 5M, but I know somebody who sold his for 9M. Prices are just dropping like crazy on Lakshmi. Just silly when we see a price of 1.5M and say, "that's a decent price!" /sigh

I've always loved Galka MNKs. In beta I always EXP'd with a Galka MNK. (/wave Glacialeye) I staticed with a Galka MNK at one point and have maintained that Galka Kick Attacks always remind me of Kojak busting down somebody's door. Always cracked me up.

But for MNK H2H stances, I like male Humes the best.

I was actually only saying it because you mentioned you were expecting it. :p In short, I was joking. But if you want to get all analy about it that's fine I guess :O

I honestly don't care who the best is. But I also think it's silly to get all uptight because someone thinks a race in a game is better than another. It's wasted energy. Much like the wasted energy I used in writing this reply. :T
