Yeah Taru MNK here, I was wondering what some good advice would be on being a MNK and a Taru. I know STR will be my big focus ,but is there anything else I should know for further down the road?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Heh, I have love for all Monks, regardless of race. Monks are awe-inspiring to watch at times.
As a Tarutaru Monk, your focus would be generally the same as any other race. STR, Att, Acc, +Haste, etc (not in any particular order... I'm not particularly savvy on melee jobs). RDM 75 - SMN 72 - WHM 37 - BLM 37 - DRK 37 -

Really, just emphasize on str & att, of course, acc as well as needed. The only "big" difference I personally notice on monk 75 taru vs a 75 elvaan is not the per/hit or ws, but chi blast :p Even there its not a huge gap(and oh chi can be unreliable in dmg per chi, due to resist or somewhat) You might see some difference on a SA full swing-Dragon kick. other than your normal xping ws, and such will not be different by much or even noticible. OK, on Taru MNK's. They are great for Dex and ACC. So you don't really need to focus on that as much. More on STR, and ATT. Plus Taru have the Backflip as you get Asuran fists (Looks awsome.) As Elvaan, I am more on ACC and STR/ATT. MND is not really a consern till you need to Chi blast for high damage. Which isn't really till you are in a HNMLS/GodLS. Then even Elvaan, need MND+ gear, and /WHM. For Chakra you will need to beff up your VIT though, but Taru RSE should be good for a long time for most Taru MNK's. For the STR+ and VIT+. Also just use the proper food for your proper lvl. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 07-31-2006, 01:44 PM | #7 (permalink) | | lolnoob Join Date: May 2006 Posts: 219 Style: Light - Version 5 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 1,422 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,422 Donate | Re: Taru MNK, any love for them? Why would you gear more for one thing than another when considering your race when, at 75 for Christ's sake, the differences between the strongest and weakest races is 8 STR or 8 DEX, being 4 Attack or 4 Accuracy, respectively.
As Weeee said, you gear your character the best you can, regardless of the race. Let race idiosyncrasies be bonuses to your build, rather than crutches. "I'm an Elvaan, so I don't need to eat meat." "I'm a Mithra, so Sniper's are wasted on me."
Really, bonuses from gear are going to far outweigh race bonuses more than you can imagine, so you really shouldn't let your race affect your gear/food choices. Dryhus, Elvaan male | Bismarck | San d'Oria 6 | Windurst 5

Doesn't really matter on race. Work on ATK and ACC as much as possible. STR on weapon skills. VIT on chakra. MND on chi blast.
The last two aren't too necessary in exp. I have about 40 pieces of equipment on MNK without VIT or MND gear. :/ | | ::Quote Selected:: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT -8.
