BST in CoP, RoZ and Sandy Missions.

My LS is going to be doing more missions and such soon and I was wondering, will I, as a BST.. be useful in anyway? and if so.. in what way?

Cause, I'm really enjoying BST and I am about to start leveling NIN as a possible subjob when it comes to DD and such.

BST is alright in some places, but since you have subjobs to level, such as /WHM, /DNC and /NIN - all of which are nice for BST in various situations - please consider taking WHM or NIN to 40 bare minimum and store away the gear so you can offer those jobs for the 30 and 40 capped CoP missions.

BST probably fares all right in RoZ and Rank Mission content, but CoPs are a little more sadistic in structure due to level caps limiting the power of many jobs. For CoPs, you may wish to consider levelling a good spike damage dealer (SMN, BLM, RNG, WAR, MNK, SAM), a good crowd controller (BLM or BLU) a healer (SCH or WHM) or a support (RDM or COR). What I've placed in parenthesis are the jobs that become the most useful the earliest.

BSTs can do most missions just fine, its just they don't offer so much early on as other jobs do in CoPs. Most level-capped zones you'll go through you can't make use of charm and have to slum by on Courrier Carries. This isn't so bad once you hit the 50 caps, but its kinda hit-or-miss before you have Snarl.

That said, BST is a great asset for 40 caps on Riverne Site #0A1, capable of soloing the mobs needed for quested items for #0B1 and wyvern scales needed to progress to the mammet fight. They're also good kiters for the BCNM there. They're not bad for Sacrarium, either. as they can charm the hecteyes and bats there if needed.

Riverne Site #0B1 BST totally gets hosed nothing to charm, nothing to help with there aside from farming items in #0A1.

My suggestion is that if you approach CoPs as BST only, that you show a lot of initiative and farm ahead for items for the benefit of the group. Come totally prepared with the best jugs and gear for your level. Bring your reraise items, hi-potions and all that good stuff. These particular missions entail a lot more than the rest and if you show you're serious about doing them, people won't mind so much you're going on these as BST.

I did all my CoP missions as a BST. I had no problems with them. I also did Windy and Sandy missions as BST. I had already finished Bastok before I started leveling BST, and did that as BARD, but that is neither here nor there.

BST can add a lot. From handling Dem NM adds with a pet to throwing in extra cures if need be. They are great for kiting as well if need be.

Also, I know a group of people that did all of CoP as BSTs.

Thank you for the replies. I think when I get home from school, I will start on leveling Ninja. Then I'll see what my LS needs and if they can fit BST into the party.
