Glitch? - ToAU22 - Shield of Diplomacy
ToAU22 Shield of Diplomacy Walk-Thru

Taskmage demonstrated recently that this could be "solo'd" by a RDM, so I figured it was time I got it together and started knocking out some of these road blocks. I set out to get the cut scenes and from what Taskmage has said, there appears to be a glitch since the update.

Taken from the walk-thru:

Quote:
When the message "The khimaira's breathing has grown ragged" is displayed, the khimaira is susceptible to intimidation by any player, pet, or even Karababa and does much reduced damage.
Sounds great, but it also wears off. Once it states that it's recovered, it should go back to it's heavy damage, and fast attack. I didn't see any of that.

Taskmage stated that "Karababa" kept running into melee range, and kept getting hit, causing him MP woes. So I went in with 1100 MP, and figured I'd just see if I could make the MP last.

I ran up, and got Bind on him. Karababa's first Flood II woke it up of course, and I tossed out Gravity which he resisted. I didn't think to look if he would out right resist it, and I never tried to cast it again. I ran in circles hoping Karababa would get it's attention and I could recover. Well, no such luck, and I go down. She then fires off her next spell, pulls hate and takes maybe 2 hits. I notice that my entire chat log now says that Khimaira 13 is intimidated by Karababa's presence over and over again. I RR, and she complains about me not healing her. I toss her a Cure III, and watch her nuke.

For the next 15 minutes or so, she blasted AMIIs like nobody's business. She stood UNDER him the entire time, and it could not get past the intimidation. Once weakened, I cast Drain and got hate. I panicked because at the time I only had about 340HP, but it just stood there, intimidated by me. I buffed up, cap'd HP, and stood there with my back to it facing away from Karababa.

I saw the "The khimaira's breathing has grown ragged" and "the khimaira has recovered" messages a few times, but it didn't melee a single time. It appears to only be able to break through the intimidation when it used it's TP, which it did a total of 3 times. One was a damaging frontal, one was a TP reset (I had none.), and the last one was a DEF down move which didn't effect me because it never used another melee or TP move.

Near the end I started nuking as well to help Karababa out, and to speed things up, still didn't take any damage. Won the fight, went back and did the next few missions.

After double Besieged, a PLD in the LS said they were on the same mission. I offered to take him out there, and knock it out. Tested out the same strat, and it worked just the same. He did most of the initial kiting, so I didn't have to sac pull it like I had planned to. (No EXP loss.) He meleed, and I nuked more heavily this time so he used TP moves about 5 times, but we were never in any danger of losing. Finished it at 13:45 with 2 people and Karababa doing 90% of the work.

This has to be glitch after hearing Taskmage's description of his two attempts, and another LS member's description as well. Basically any job can solo this until it's updated.

Now this may seem like a cheap way to go about it, and I had no idea it would turn out this way. But I still wanted to share.

Re: Glitch? - ToAU22 - Shield of Diplomacy
I just did this mission today. He constantly went in and out of Intimidation after about 50% HP.

I did it with a full party, and me and the NIN tank were meleeing it the whole time. It was constantly attacking, and naturally when it was weakened its attack speed was much slower. However it did break out of Intimidation multiple times; I didn't notice any problem though it did take our Ninja to yellow HP multiple times towards the end.

And Shantotto definitely doesn't relent.

But it was easy. We broke the record.
