COP 2-5 Ancient Vows
Any good recommendations how to win the fight?
So far theres:
1. Super Paladin strategy - get PLD to hold off 2 mammets while the rest pound on 1.
2. Kiters - 2 kiters for 2 mammets while everyone pound on 1.
3. 2 tanks - 2 tanks on 2 mammets while everyone goes after the 1.
4. Zombies - Everyone pound on one, die and reraise and go after the rest.

Also Yellow Liquid lasts only for 30 secs right?

Re: COP 2-5 Ancient Vows
My CoP 2.5 run typically has:
- Main kiter: THF/NIN on evasion setup with Powder Boots and lot's of Hi-potions. Kites two Mammets with Flee > Powder Boots > Perfect Dodge > Flee.
- Backup kiter/DD: NIN/RDM, who is normally DD unless THF is in trouble. NIN/RDM is our "magic" DD, and does more damage than anyone else.

We normally use PLD tank, but NIN works fine. Idea is to use five people to kill one Mammet at a time.

Re: COP 2-5 Ancient Vows
Setup we used:

2x NIN/WAR, BRD/WHM, WHM/BLM, RDM/NIN (me), BLU/THF.

Run to circle, Soul Voice and buff. I kite a mammet, each NIN takes a mammet, BLU assists.

I eat dirt during Hand Form barrage during kite post-convert at low mp (couldn't get him into Polearm form). NIN picks up my add. I convert to Back-line Job and start resting/healing/hasting.

Bard, rather obviously, keeps buffs up.

BLU/THF dies and remains dead.

WHM does what WHM's do best.

Win.

The fight isn't terribly complicated, just a bit difficult. Take some ethers if you're mage kiter.
------------------------
Things I've noted:

This strategy seems to work for a lot of people and it's relatively simple in implementation--just hard to find the right combo of people.

3x WHM + 3x NIN (each NIN gets his own personal WHM and slowly kills a mammet.

General strategy:

Shield: Basically, you have 3 mammets. Each one has to have something done to it. The something is either a) Kiting or b) Tanking. Mix of 1-3 Tanks and 0-2 Kiters. RDM is not terribly useful without Refresh, but convert and some Utsusemi Shadows help his survivability as a kiter. SMN and BST are incomparable kiters. NIN is better off here than PLD since this is a long fight and NIN doesn't have MP to worry about. Advise Refresh Drinks and some instant mp potions for PLDs coming through.

Support: Bard is great for melee tanks and quite excellent for buffing the kiter as well. WHM strongly encouraged.

DD: Any empty slot is a "free for all" DD slot.

Re: COP 2-5 Ancient Vows
When I won, it turned out to be a combination of 2 and 4 with a NIN tank. I think we had one SMN and 2 RDM *and* a WHM, so one RDM assisted with kiting and the other nuked/healed. That left us with myself as RNG and the NIN. So taking the first one down took quite a while, and I barely finished it off with my EES (I got that stun kick right before I used EES, and had all three mammets wailing on me...). We raised, and the last two were cake, as one RDM gravity-kited one as the rest of us killed the other.

Ended at 28:30. It certainly isn't an ideal set up (really needed another DD), but the kiters worked incredibly well. The previous 2 runs that I failed had 2 SMN for kiting, and only one of the four actually knew how to kite. Unless you have a special setup, good kiters are key, as is having RR up just in case the first mammet takes too long.

And I'd also recommend thinking about the 3 NIN + 3 healers, but that's just because it intrigues me. I recently rebought all my NIN equipment to get it from 37-40 so I could try this strategy one day. And now with no exp loss (and actually exp gained with the new update), I'm hoping I can get some NINs and healers to go "for fun."

(also, Ifrit, WAR is a great DD for this bcnm imo, especially if you spring for an icarus wing; Mighty Strikes -> Raging Axe -> Icarus Wing -> Raging Axe/Sturmwind is devastating)

Oh, forgot the most important advice: Have fun.

Our party setup, from CoP 2.5 run last November

What it takes to win... lol

It's nice, just not as safe as NIN/RDM. NIN/RDM also can double duty to kite/solo a Mammet as needed, so it's flexible, safe, and our top DD parse after parse.

I've never rejected anyone in LS for a CoP 2.5 run, though; if the only job you have is a ____, we'll find a party set up to make use of your job. ^_-

Re: COP 2-5 Ancient Vows
I've had immense trouble finding people to do this with me. Every time I try to set-up a run, I end up having something come up for me, or the people that said they'd come with, never speak to me. But my plans with it so far, were to get a party together that looked something like;

NIN/WAR(tank)
DD
THF/NIN(me, kiter)
RDM/NIN(kiter)
SMN/WHM(dd/healer/kiter, maybe instead of me)
WHM/whatever(healer of course)

I think this set up would work well, and we have 3 kiters just in case of something happening. The trouble is, getting this set up when I want to is relatively tough, and I still need to level THF a little bit.

You guys think that set-up would work? Before I go to the trouble of getting it together.

Thanks to Roguewolf for the sig. :D

Not calling you out, but @ 40 RDM doesn't have haste.

Re: COP 2-5 Ancient Vows
I guess I did it with the super PLD strategy. We had a super PLD so it worked out well.

PLD kited two of the bastards, with a WHM dedicated to healing them. NIN, DD, BLM, and RDM made up the other 4, who killed one, then another mammet. All 6 join in to kill the last one.

Re: COP 2-5 Ancient Vows
when I finally won, it was with 3x ninja, 3x healers (we had 2x whm and a rdm but it's pretty interchangeable, honestly, having 2 and 1 worked out for hastes and gravity but it could go either way.)

one ninja one healer each take a mammet, spread them out, try to lock them in fists(monk) or spear(dragoon) - warriors and blackmages not so hot.

elemental wheel them with :ni and just duo them down. first group to finish helps out the group that's having the most trouble next, then all gang up on the last (whichever it ends up being).

for meds, each mage had a fast using ether (I like pro ethers) and each tank had about a half dozen hi potions.
