After failing twice already, we went in again with PT as PLD, RNG, RNG, SMN, BLM, WHM. Well we managed to farm 2 items to bring the dragon back down and went into the battle. We let the dragon fly at the start so that we had to just take the damage and he does a suprising amount of damage in the air, both me and the whm end up spam curing him. People say u can sleep it, but it resisted both Sleep 1 and Sleep 2 ; ;

What are people tactics for this bc?

How low does his HP have to be?

Can it be any worse ><

we went as smn smn smn pld whm rdm and spammed aerial blast then chain spelled aero II. We entered, buffed, slept him, dispelled him, then AF'd him. Inbetween aerial blasts, we mistmelted him and slept him. We got 6 AF off doing ~4500 dmg, then the pld invincibled and the rdm 2hr'd. Aero II ripped through stoneskin (2-3 aeros took it off) and we won.

We used 2 mistlmelts.

the easiest way to do it is:

BLM BLM RDM BRD TANK[any job with more HP than BLM will work] (1 leecher, or additional BLM)

go in, buff. TANK has 3+ mistmelts ready.

TANK runs in to get agro, BRD + RDM sleep it, and DISPEL (it has strong stoneskin). BLM simulcast freeze. while it's going off, BRD + RDM can debuff, gravity, slow, ice threnody, silence, etc.

2x Freeze will knock off 1/4 HP. ouryu will take off, doing 100 damage AOE. TANK waits for it to reach maximum height and uses 1 MISTMELT. it will land, doing another 100 AOE damage. BRD+RDM immediately sleep it. refresh BLMs, who simulcast freeze. you might need to sleep it more than once if they need to wait for MP.

(repeat) 2x Freeze will knock off 1/4 HP. ouryu will take off, doing 100 damage AOE. TANK waits for it to reach maximum height and uses 1 MISTMELT. it will land, doing another 100 AOE damage. BRD+RDM immediately sleep it. refresh BLMs, who simulcast freeze. you might need to sleep it more than once if they need to wait for MP.

don't get excited and use mistmelt too early or it will get stuck in half-flying pose that is actually on the ground but looks like flying and will confuse you.

the 6th freeze will kill it. easy win.

PLD/BLM/BLM/RDM/MNK/SMN was the way we did it. Victory on our first attempt.

First and foremost, there is no meleeing involved.

Make sure everyone has a Mistmelt. Designate a Mistmelt throwing order. Enter BC, buff up. MNK starts charging with Boosts.

PLD runs in first and draws hate, standing right in front of Ouryu, while the rest of us stand directly behind the PLD (do NOT surround Ouryu, or he will use Spiked Flail, which hurts A LOT). Both BLMs blast Ouryu with sleep. RDM Dispels Ouryu's Stoneskin, then hits him with Silence and Paralyze. MNK continues Boosting. PLD spams Provoke. The two BLMs cast Freeze on Ouryu...he wakes up and takes flight. MNK lets him have it with Chi Blast. PLD Provokes and does whatever he can to retain hate. The first designated person throws a Mistmelt in his face to send him back down to earth. Ouryu is slept again, RDM continues to heal, Refresh all mages, and keep debuffing Ouryu. SMN backup heals whenever necessary. BLMs use drinks and potions and rest for MP. MNK starts stacking Boosts again. PLD spams Provoke, as always. Once the BLMs have sufficient MP, we Freeze him again. Ouryu takes to the skies again. The second designated person uses a Mistmelt to bring Ouryu down again. Ouryu is slept once again. MNK continues to spam Boost. SMN summons Garuda, Astral Flow, Aerial Blast. MNK lets loose with another Chi Blast. Ouryu tries his flying trick once again. The third designated person uses their Mistmelt on Ouryu. Garuda tanks Ouryu as BLMs both use Manafont and Freeze him one last time, then start spamming Aeroga II and Aero II.

Ouryu howls for mercy.

Win.

everyone winning it that i know of had at least 2 BLM casting freeze while it was asleep 95% of the time, and mistmelted the minute it took off

if you can beat it at level 50 without that strat, i will be very impressed.

you used to be able to sleep him in the air. however, they stopped that a long time ago and now he does so much insane damage in the air, you'll never get to (c) or (d) before (b) happens.

i tried it about 15 times with a really good party, spending a ton of money on medicines. ochre blast (IIRC) is one of his flying WS's and it does 400+ AOE damage. at level 50, that will 1-shot most of your party. he is simply unbeatable in the air, as far as i can tell.

i tried w/ 2 SMN. our first 2 combined astral flows (garuda on wind day) got him to 80%. then he took off, killed both garudas in seconds, and we wiped a few seconds later. i'm sure it CAN be done but it seems hard. the BLM/sleep thing is easy, by comparison.

Are you quite sure? I mean no offense, but I find this incredibly hard to believe. Aerial Blast whallops him, yes...but even with two Garudas going at him, I really can't see how you'll be able to do enough damage before he tears you all a new one, ESPECIALLY since you claim that the four others in your PT were leechers who didn't do anything...you allowed Ouryu to stay awake and able to cast spells WHILE airborne. I mean, he can wipe a PT with just one airborne AOE spell.

Just call me a wee bit skeptical...if you at least kept him Silenced, then perhaps...but still...for my PT, it took 6 Freezes, 2 multi-Boosted Chi Blasts, an Aerial Blast, a few slaps from Garuda, and a few Aeroga II and Aero II spells to take him down. Granted, our first few Freezes got resisted like crazy, but even the ~300 damage the resists dealt each time is nothing to scoff at.

I just saw the video of our fight again thats how it goes

We run in used few ranged attacks (no damage cuz he got stoneskin)
he fly so 2x smn 2h 1sec later he fall down cuz of damage we dont use mismelt

his hp 70%~ now
garudas tank him 40sec then they died

nin vok kite for a short time 20sec~ 2x smn 2h again
ouryu hp now 45%~
2x rng barrge ees second ees killed him won -_- (Ouryu give up when his hp 30%)

our smns was gettin rdy to 2h again 3x time but rng killed it thats why i believe 2x mn +4x leechers can win

my party went in with:

we defeated Ouryu extremly easily, only mnk and rng ended up using 2hr.

the greatest thing is we beat him on earthday =D
