Promyvion HOLLA - Strategies, ideas, tips?
I was war/nin during this fight.
Died twice, then I thought of something.

How about NINJA / WARRIOR?

# Idea for Radical Thinkers 1-- This idea just came to me, but have you ever thought of NINJA / WARRIOR ? Their 2 hour Mijin Gakure is suicide with however many HP you have.
I thought if I used a couple X - Potions and suicided with FULL HP.... near the end of boss fight (OBviously, when someone else is still alive in the party), I can do 400 HP damage and finish it off!!!!! Coupled with Astral Flow and maybe an anima..could this work?

# Melee - Use poison potion after 50% of NM hp life, so that you are never slept. Counter your poison effect with a HP regen drink like Pamama Au Lait. I couldn't provoke because i kept getting slept.

# According to Kasper (sudo), this dude has 3,000 HP.


# Idea for Radical Thinkers -- I don't think buff armour, weapons, or even hi-potions and ethers help too much. I think this battle is largely dependent on STRATEGY and SYNCHRONIZATION with other players. (ie. Trading hate, making sure you cast Blink, etc.)




On the Beastmaster FOrum, Kasper (sudo) talked about using a pet from a can (like a funguar) to hit this thing.

Also to consider, we should attack when this guy is weak to the elemental day.

Just fight it like a normal exp mob and apply normal stratagies.

IE, mages and rangers stay out of aoe range.

Keep stoneskin up

Keep blink up

Keep everyone cured, especially after his wheel attack

My party was war/nin rng/nin rng/nin whm/smn smn/whm and blm/whm and we never had any issues anywhere through, as well as items aren't really necessary.

I did this yesterday as..

2xRNG/NIN, 2xSMN/WHM, 1xMNK/WAR, 1xWHM/BLM

Basically, MNK used anima, Hundred Fists, 1 SMN lowered his evasion with Fenrir.. RNGs unloaded, saved barrage for 50%.. Astral Flow at 50%, RNG finished with EES.. =x

Wow great tips you guys. I mean, now s/he can do it easily!

Now I will tell you the key to winning this fight:

Buffs.

You NEED another mage with /WHM and Barstone. Better off not one of your SMN damage dealers. BLM or RDM with /WHM sub make a great party member.

Here is what I suggest:

-Don't use Astral Flow, instead try to use RNG's EES. The NM often sleeps the summons. (EDIT. If you had to choose)

-Party set up:

Tank x2 (Both /NIN) (Bring 2-3 poison potions)

Damage Dealers x2 (RNG is best, SMN is second, any job can do it. THFs, WARs, SAMs, and DRKs should be using range if possible. If the damage dealers are going to melee, bring 2-3 poison potions)

Main Healer x1 (a WHM or SMN)

Buffer x1 (any mage that can sub /WHM or is a BRD. If /WHM must have the spell Barstona).

-Items

Tanks: Poison Potion x3, Hi-Potion x2. Bring more potions if you like.

Melee: Poison Potion x1-2... bring three if meleeing.

Buffer: Yagudo Drink x2. More drinks if you want.

Main Healer: Yagudo Drink x2. Ether or more drinks if you want.

-Tactics (using the party above)

80-50% the Buffer should main heal.

At 75% all melee should be using poison potions and the buffer should be spamming barstona. NEVER should a melee be without that spell. NOT EVEN FOR A SECOND. RNGs should run to where the buffer is casting to get it)

At 30-40% WARs should be using 2hr. (If you have any)

At 20-30% RNGs should be using Barrage, SMNs / SAMs / ect using 2hr or other abilities.

At 10-20% RNG 2hr.

At 0% All players must type "/p WOOT!"

-Position

-----Entrance
Right--------Left
--------End

Have main healer stand far away from AoEs and on the Left side. Have one tank having his back to the entrance, and the other with his back to the end. RNGs should be at the Right. The buffer can be in the right if you have a RNG, otherwise it is best to have the buffer right next to the WHM.



You can kill it anyway you want, this way is probably the safest.

When I killed this boss I think we had rng/nin, rng/nin, nin/war, smn/whm, blm/whm, whm/smn. We took almost no damage and won quite easily. nin tried to tank, but rng quickly pulled it off him then kited the boss around the area while everyone else attacked at range. If someone else got hate, they kited and so on. I got to kite a bit as a whm too, which was fun. He never did hit me . We kept getting lots of player out of range messages whenever the boss tried to use one of those nasty skills. It took about 8 minutes or so but it was really easy. We didn't use any animas either.

Any of the Promyvion boss can technically be beat without Animas, but I can't imagine that anyone would consider going in without having at least three. Listen.. this is a mission, something that's not designed to be a "quick run" up to the top with a quick victory. Spend an hour or 2 with your PT on the second floor of a Promyvion, kill everything you can get your hands on (especially the unique mobs for the zone: thinkingers/gorgers/ect) and farm Recollections. Get 2 per PT member and the boss will be a *joke*.

Sorry. I know people who have tried Holla 10-15 times, never won, and will moan and complain about losing. If they would have spent 1/4th of the time farming for animas instead, they'd have won weeks ago instead. It makes the whole event so much less frustrating.

every recollection I've ever gotten was from killing EP and DC on the first floor. You don't need to be on the second floor to get them and I suggest spending some time with friends you plan to beat prom with farming on the first floor for gits and shiggles.

We just did this along with the other two last night. We had 3xRNG/NIN 2x WHM/BLM and a RDM/BLM. We set up in a triangle formation with one ranger and one mage at each point. Gravity him then the RNGs just shoot away. If he ever actually gets to you turn away and quit shooting. Once another ranger pulls hate you can turn back and continue shooting (after reblinking). He goes down pretty easy with this (6 minutes if I remember right).



THF 75 / SAM 75 / WAR75 / BLM 57 / RNG 46 / RDM 42 / NIN 41 / MNK 41 / BRD 38 / WHM 38 / 37 PLD / 37 DRG

FIrst, everyone needs 2 anima, pain, and hystero I think, 2nd, a smn helps alot.

But, do some research on this thread darkages, there's PLENTY of good information if you use search, please stop bumping 1-2 year old threads.

I’m a master at holla (sadly i never won with over 100+ losses 0/7 on the boss) I'm currently working on a guide for it but here’s some tips form my guide

1 having the perfect pt configuration isn’t enough u need to trust other players bc from my exp i just get a mix of newbies noobs and experts i seriously hope u pick who’s in wisely or the result will be death.

2 animas are required for the boss but not every 1 needs them from what i heard. melees should have hi-potions, holywaters and 2 poison pots every 1 should have the poison pots echo drops for mages and food/drink if you can afford it.

3 the best gear I've seen is the "empty killer " gear for tanks and the mp recovery gear for mages although u can use any type of gear >30

4 USE RERAISE have at least 1 earring and scroll and try not to use before the boss.

5 If u playing as a whm stay close to the group don’t lead if u get agro = game over

6 Here’s a break down of mrs per floor 1-1 mr no fakes 2-4 mr 2 w of fence 1 north of fence 1 south of fence 3-(5)? Mr there is fakes 4 no mr head north to reach spire when path branches if u can go right its a bit safer.

7 The boss if u don’t got a rng I’ve noticed we cant deal enough damage=death the best I’ve gotten was 1% hp played as whm my lesson use reraise if u cant pt will wipe at about 50%> from what I’ve seen.
I hope my tips can help you. I never defeated the boss so i cant really give useful info on it.
