Thief difficulty

Hey. I've recently started a game as a thief. I'm level 8 and having a super hard time getting any higher since anything I can actually kill gives very little exp. Thief abilities don't seem very useful so far (and it's 7 more levels until I get sneak attack) and their stats seem low.

I'm just wondering if there's an easier way to do this since I've been mercilessly killed way too many times from enemies the game claims are "easy" or "an even match." I have pretty much all the weapons and armor I can buy for my level.

I'm using claws since Windurst (which is where I'm stuck) doesn't seem to sell any decent weapons for thieves. Thanks.

I can't help you on the leveling part, but my advice is to just keep it at it. Once you get to level 15 or so things will start to get easier.

oook, thf is one of the hardest jobs to lvl before 15
using a knife is better than claws, buy from AH
claws are class E for Thf (believe it or not) Knife is class A
things will get much easier at 15 :)
ull need to keep ur claw skills up though, PTs will want them for renkei

Yeah just bare with it as i'm a Level 8 Taru Blackmage and i'm having a tough time as well....but i'm also leveling a Thief to for money.

Thanks for the input. Yeah, I went back to knife since the claws were seriously taking too long to attack. I'm almost at level 10 now and it seems to be progressing mechanically as long as I don't get ambushed. Thanks again!

i PT my THF all the way since level 5 wwith LS friends. really super fast. get to level 15 in 1 day.

if you solo I would say every jobs will be hard for level 7 up. THF is a little harder.
if you get PT then it will be equally easy to level up any job regardless...

Where's a good place near Windurst to PT level build? I'm level 10 and I think this is about as far as I can go solo.

if you're in windust stay close to tarongi zone ^^ you can make a 6 ppl PT and go kill worms in shakrami for super fast level up until level 14
